Solar System

Solar System consists of eight Planets. Sun is at the center of the Solar System. All eight planets revolve around the Sun.

1. Sun

• The Sun is round in shape.
• It is too hot as it is a big ball of burning gases.
• The Sun rises in the east in the morning and sets in the West in the evening.
• The Sun is the source of heat and light on earth.

2. Moon

• The moon is smaller than the Earth and is closer to Earth than the Sun.
• The moon does not have its own light, its surface reflects the light received from the Sun.
• There is no life on moon due to absence of water and air.
• The moon is not hot like the Sun.

3. Stars

• Stars appear very small to us as they are very far from us.
• The stars have their own light. Some stars are as bright as or even brighter than the Sun.

4. Clouds

• Clouds are made up of water vapour.
• They appear white in colour most of the time.
• When it is about to rain, the clouds appear dark grey in color.

5. Rainbow

• Rainbow is a seven coloured arc shaped band that we see in the sky sometimes after the rain. It appears in the sky when sunlight enters water droplets. It has seven colours - violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red.
