Q.1. A hotel has 7 floors. The lobby, restaurant and gym are located on the ground floor. The guestrooms are on 1st to 6th floors.
If there are 35 standard rooms on each floor, how many standard rooms are there?

Number of floors = 7

Number of floors with standard rooms = 6 (excluding ground floor)

Number of rooms on each floor = 35

Total number of standar rooms = 35 x 6 = 210
There are 210 standard rooms.

If each standard room can fit 2 guests, what is the maximum number of guests that all the standard rooms can accommodate?

From above problem we found that total number of standard rooms = 210

Number of guests each room can occupy = 2

Total numbers of guests that can be accomodated = 210 x 2 = 420
The maximum number of guests that all the standard rooms can accommodate is 420 guests.


Q.3. A hotel has 7 floors. The lobby, restaurant and gym are located on the ground floor. The guestrooms are on 1st to 6th floors.
Each suite has 3 beds and there is a bed side table beside each side of each bed. How many bed side tables are there in all the suites?

Number of suites (standard rooms)= 210

Number of beds in each suite = 3

Number of side tables for each bed = 2

Total number of side tables = 3 x 2 x 210 =1260
There are 1260 bed side tables.


Q.4. A printing company has 6 printing machines.
Each printing machine costs $4,500. How much did the company pay for the machines?

Total number of printing machines = 6

Cost of each printing machine = $4,500

Total cost of all machines = 4,500 x 6 = 27,000
The company paid $27,000 for the machines.


Q.5. A printing company has 6 printing machines.
If a new order involved printing 3,800 pages but one of the machines is out of order, how many pages does each working machine print for this order if they each print the same number of pages?

Number of machines working = 6 - 1 = 5

Number of pages to be printed = 3,800

Number of pages each printing machine has to print = 3,800 ÷ 5 = 760
Each machine will print 760 pages.


Q.6. A printing company has 6 printing machines.
There are 5 salespersons and 22 clients. If each client only deals with one salesperson and the clients are divided as equally as possible among the salespersons, how many salespersons are responsible for 5 clients?

Total number of clients = 22

Number of sales person = 5

Number of clients assigned to each sales person = 22 ÷ 5 = 4 remainder 2

Now 4 clients are assigned to each salesperson

Remaining number of clients that is 2 are to be assigned to any two clients

Therefore 2 salesperson have to deal with 5 clients.


Q.7. In a car factory, there are 8 assembly lines. Each assembly lines manufactures cars at the same speed.
There are 2 supervisors and 12 workers working on each assembly line. How many workers are there in total?

Total numbers of assembly lines = 8

Number of workers on each assembly line = 12

Total number of workers on all assembly lines = 12 x 8 = 96
There are 96 workers in total.


Q.8. In a car factory, there are 8 assembly lines. Each assembly lines manufactures cars at the same speed.
If all the assembly lines operate 12 hours a day and produces 6 cars then how long does it take for one assembly line to produce one car?

Numbers of hours of opeartion of all assembly lines = 12 hours

Total number of cars produced = 6 cars

Number of hours required for one car = 12 ÷ 6 = 2
It takes one assembly line 2 hours to produce one car.


Q.9. In a car factory, there are 8 assembly lines. Each assembly lines manufactures cars at the same speed.
Daily salary of each worker is $80. What is the total daily salary of all the workers?

From Q7 we found that total number of workers =  96 

Daily salary of one worker = $80

Total salry of daily salary of all workers = 80 x 96 = 7,680
The total daily salary of all the workers is $7,680.


Q.10. In a school, there are 12 classes and 30 teachers.
In each class, there are 35 students. How many students are there in total?

Number of classes = 12

Number of students in each class = 35 students

Total number of students in school = 35 x 12 = 420
There are 420 in total.
