IBPS PO Selection Process

The IBPS PO Exam is held in three parts:

  • IBPS PO Prelims Exam
  • IBPS PO Mains Exam

IBPS PO 2025 Eligibility

IBPS PO eligibility criteria are certain parameters in terms of age and educational qualification. The age limit of candidates for IBPS PO is between 20 and 30 years. The educational qualification prescribed for the exam is Graduation. 

Nationality 

A candidate applying for IBPS CRP/Bank PO Examination must be one of the following:

  1. Citizen of India
  2. Subject of Nepal or Bhutan
  3. Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement
  4. Person of Indian Origin (PIO) who has migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam or East African countries of Zaire, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Ethiopia, Malawi, with the intention of permanent settlement in India 

Candidates belonging to the category 2, 3, 4 must have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Govt of India in their favour.

IBPS PO Age Limit 2025

IBPS PO Qualification

  • The eligibility criteria for the IBPS CRP exam is graduation degree (BA, BCom, BSc, BTech etc) in any discipline from a University recognized by the Government of India. Any such candidate who has received equivalent qualification which is recognized by the Central Government is also eligible to apply for this exam. 
  • The candidates must be in possession of a valid marksheet/ degree certificate that certifies that they are a graduate on the day they register for this exam, and must indicate the percentage of marks obtained in graduation while registering for the IBPS PO. 
  • Computer Literacy: Working knowledge of computer systems is necessary for the job as well as to give the IBPS PO exam which is conducted in online mode. 
  • Language Proficiency: Verbal and written proficiency in the official language of the State/UT is desirable. The candidate must be able to read, write and speak the language.

IBPS PO 2025 Exam Pattern & Marking Scheme

According to IBPS PO exam pattern, the preliminary exam comprises three sections. The total marks for the test are 100. The mains exam of IBPS PO is conducted for the shortlisted candidates of the prelims exam. The mains exam comprises objective and descriptive-type questions. The total marks allotted to the test are 225. There is negative marking for wrong answers, one-fourth of marks are deducted as a penalty for wrong answers.

IBPS PO Interview

  • Shortlisted candidates of the mains exam are called for the interview, which is conducted by the participating organizations and coordinated by the nodal bank. 
  • The interview carries 100 marks. In the interview, candidates are asked questions based on the Banking Sector, Current Affairs, General Awareness, etc. 
  • The minimum qualifying mark in the interview is 40 per cent (35 per cent for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates).

Penalty for Wrong Answers

  • 0.25 marks will be deducted for every question attempted wrong by a candidate in both IBPS PO 2025 Preliminary Exam and IBPS PO 2025 Mains Exam. There will be no deduction of marks for a question left blank/unattempted by a candidate.
