• Undoubtedly, almost every other expert out there backs up the fact that engaging in discussions with like-minded people helps us find adequate solutions to our problems while broadening the horizons of our minds.
• I love having profound conversations with the elders, my grandfather being one of them. So, last month, I had visited Kurukshetra – my maternal grandparent’s house. While everybody else had their hands full with chores, I stole some time from my grandfather to speak with him.
• During the partition, my grandfather was ten years old. And, it is mesmerizing to see how vividly he remembers his journey from the newly found Pakistan to India. Not just that, he can well reminisce his life before the partition as well. Keeping this in mind, I started questioning him about the kind of lives his parents lived in that era.
• One of the interesting facts that he told me was his mother was a skilful homemaker while his father was an Ayurvedic doctor. That was when I got to know why my grandfather was excellent at Ayurvedic prescriptions. I was jaw-dropped while listening to how my grandfather lost his parents before partition and had to give away his riches to the hands of his so-called relatives, who robbed him only because he was innocent.
• And then, when he came to India, he had to start everything from scratch. I genuinely believe my grandfather’s life is nothing less than an inspiring story in itself.
