Problems of modernization
Models of modernization
Modernization is a multifaceted concept that encompasses various aspects of society, including technology, economy, political aspects, social aspects, and psychological aspects. The process of modernization holds the potential for significant social transformation and development, but it also presents numerous challenges and problems, such as regional imbalances, pollution, ecological degradation, and social unrest. As SC Dubey points out, there is no standard model of modernization or fixed path to achieve it. Each society must navigate its own unique path towards modernization, taking into account its cultural context and values. In the case of India, democracy and secularism have been chosen as the basis for modernization. Ultimately, the success of modernization efforts will depend on striking a balance between embracing new ideas and technologies while preserving cultural identity and addressing the various challenges that arise along the way.
