What is SSC?
The Staff Selection Commission is a Government body that conducts examinations every year to recruit ministries, organisations, and department staff at Group B and C levels for the Government of India.
How to apply for the SSC exam?
Filling out the request form is indeed the second stage in the application procedure. The initial application may only be found on the SSC’s official website and should be completed and submitted online. Under no conditions will physical copies of an online application be allowed.
Applicants who already enrolled for SSC CGL should do the following steps:
- Step 1: Enter your registration id and password just on the official website.
- Step 2: Underneath the ‘Latest Notifications’ tab, locate the employment application hyperlink & click on ‘Apply’ option.
- Step 3: The data you provided upon registering will be shown; review it.
- Step 4: If anyone wishes to update any of the data, go to the dashboard’s left-hand upper corner & select the ‘Modify Register’ option.
- Step 5: Once you have verified the registration details, move onto application.
- Step 6: Pick 3 exam centres from the very same area. In sequence of choice, list each 3 of them.
- Step 7: If you are currently serving or even have previously worked in the Armed Services, fill in the essential information. It’s worth noting that wards of service members aren’t regarded the same as ex-servicemen & have to choose ‘No’ in the needed column.
- Step 8: Indicate whether or not you have Cerebral Palsy.
- Step 9: If you have a physical disability that prevents you from writing, indicate that you will need a scribe to write on your behalf.
- Step 10: If you’re applying for a position as a Junior Statistic Investigator or Statistic Investigation Grade II with the Registrar of India, choose ‘Yes’ inside the designated field. Please make sure you have the necessary educational qualifications for the position you’re applying for.
- Step 11: If you’re looking for a valid age cohort, explain it.

SSC CGL – Combined Graduate Level
SSC CGL is an annual examination conducted in four tiers.
- Tier I – A computer-based test conducted in multiple slots, comprising objective-type questions
- Tier II – A computer-based test comprising two papers – English and Quantitative Aptitude
- Tier III – A descriptive test to evaluate candidates’ written skills in English/Hindi
- Tier IV – A skill test/document verification conducted explicitly for the post of Assistant Audit Officer
SSC GD – Constable (General Duty)
SSC GD is conducted to recruit candidates in paramilitary organisations like CRPF, BSF, CISF, SSB, ITBP, SSF, etc. A three-stage examination is held to select intellectually and physically sound Learners.
- Stage I (Written exam) – An objective-type written examination conducted online. It entails topics including Elementary Mathematics, Hindi/English, Reasoning and General Intelligence
- Stage II (Physical Efficiency/Physical Standard Test) – A crucial stage for candidates looking to excel in the SSC GD exam. All candidates have to undergo a physical measurement and endurance test to reach the third stage
- Stage III – The last stage of SSC GD includes a medical check-up
SSC CHSL – Combined Higher Secondary Level
SSC conducts the SSC CHSL examination to recruit candidates in various departments or ministries. The candidates are selected for the post of SA/PA (Postal/Sorting Assistants), LDC (Lower Divisional Clerk), DEO (Data Entry Operator), or a Court Clerk. There are three stages in the examination:
- Tier I – CBT mode exam comprising objective-type questions
- Tier II – Descriptive-type written test
- Tier III – Skill test/typing test
SSC JE – Junior Engineer
The JE (Civil, Electrical, Quantity Surveying and Contracts, and Mechanical) test is a competitive exam conducted by SSC to recruit junior engineers for Group B (Non-gazetted) posts. It consists of two papers:
- Paper I – Computer-based examination
- Paper II – Written-test
SSC CPO – Central Police Organisation
The SSC CPO is conducted to recruit candidates for Central Police Force posts of Sub-inspector, CAPF, etc. It consists of four stages.
- Stage I – Paper 1
- Stage II – Physical standard/physical endurance test
- Stage III – Paper 2
- Stage IV – Medical examination
SSC MTS – Multitasking Staff
This is a non-technical exam to recruit candidates for posts such as Peon, Daftary, Jamadar, Gardener, Junior Gestetner Operator. It consists of two papers.
- Paper I – Online test
- Paper II – Offline test
SSC Stenographer ‘C’ and ‘D’
SSC Stenographer ‘C’ and ‘D’ exam is conducted to recruit candidates for Stenographer Grade C (non-gazetted) and Grade D posts. It has two stages.
- Stage I – Computer-based test
- Stage II – Skill test
SSC JHT – Junior Hindi Translator
This is a competitive test for recruiting junior and senior Hindi translators in various departments, organisations, and ministries for the Government of India. It has two papers:
- Paper I – CBT (Computer-based test)
- Paper II – Offline examination
