The Little Fir Tree Class 4 Notes English

  • The story begins with the protagonist Shetty, a magician looking for shelter due to heavy rain on his way back.
  • He came to a halt and stood underneath a little fir tree.
  • Once it stopped raining, Shetty was very happy as he did not get wet.
  • The magician wished to thank the small fir tree for his compassion by granting the tree four wishes.
  • The tree wished for green leaves like other trees instead of its natural needle-like leaves as he was sad that no bird could find shelter or build a nest.
  • However, as soon as he received the green leaves, a goat came and ate them.
  • So, the tree then wished for golden leaves since no one would eat them.
  • The tree was brimming with excitement the next morning, as their request had been granted as well but two men robbed the tree with golden leaves.
  • The tree then wished for glass leaves that no one would neither eat nor steal.
  • The next day, though, the wind blew and reflected all of the glass leaves.
  • He was depressed, and he wanted the same old needle-like leaves, which he knew would not be eaten by goats, removed by men, or damaged by the wind.
  • Seeing the old needle-like leaves the next morning the little fir tree was happier than ever.
