NEET Toppers Success Stories

For a state board student, understanding the NCERT is itself a challenge. During my drop year, when I finally decided to do self study, I came to know about this app. The video lectures are in a very sequential manner, you have to set only daily targets and revise it regularly and consistently.

The topic wise tests are really helpful, it gives you a real track of your progress and how much you are putting efforts. You will enter a positive feedback system gradually which will bring you success at last. Yes, you will commit mistakes, but at the end you will definitely learn.

The discussion forum is really beneficial if you use it wisely. When doubts arise, you can ask and discuss with your friends. The group of people who are working hard give you enthusiasm to move forward and work harder and harder.

Stay motivated and all the best.

Story 2: Pabitra Lenka, AIR 368

NEET Toppers Success Stories

My story is a bit different from others. I was a brilliant student from childhood, always scoring more than 90% in my school career. In class 12th I scored 94.8%. I had joined Aakash Institute for a two-year course and was aiming to clear NEET in my first attempt.

The day of NEET 2016 came and I scored 490, which was not enough. State cut off was 491, and I was devastated. I was unable to secure a MBBS seat due to just one mark. It broke my heart.

But I decided not to give up and start aiming for NEET 2017. I took the best decision of my life – to self-study for one year. I studied with full concentration and gave every exam my best effort. I used to do 500+questions a day and the power of this determination came from that single mark.

Finally, May 7th came and I was little bit nervous. However, my revengeful attitude made all my fears disappear. I gave the exam for 3 hours and checked the Allen answer sheet. To my surprise, I got 610 marks. I and my family were overjoyed. All my hard work and dedication had paid off.

Story 3: Mothys Vikram K, Score 408

NEET Toppers Success Stories

My fourth day at an engineering college in Tamilnadu, I realized I had to do something to pursue my passion and dream of becoming a doctor. In Tamilnadu, it takes a score of 350+ to get into a medical program. So I took the risk and ordered MTG Fingertips and HC Verma's Concept of Physics from Amazon and brought all the NCERT books to my hostel. This was the beginning of my nine-month long marathon of NEET preparation.

NEET Toppers Success Stories

I initially made the mistake of enrolling in an Engineering college, but I decided to make the best of it by studying for the NEET exam for 10 hours a day, even while attending classes. I was lucky to have fellow Engineering students that had been medical aspirants before, who gave me the books I needed to prepare. I also had supportive roommates that stayed up late with me so I could study. By October, I had finished studying biology and was revising the material, but I was struggling to balance my studies with the unit tests I was failing. To ensure I maintained my attendance I had to run 3 km between the college and the hostel. Whenever I ran, I thought of the song 'Besabriyaan' by M.S. Dhoni, which kept me motivated.

In November, I had a high rank on the Aakash ATQ test, but I struggled with Physics. I also had to bunk labs and get proxies from my friends in MECH classes. I realized how cool MECH students were when my friend managed to bypass the biometric attendance system for me.

December was a tough month for me because I had difficulty remembering scientific names, formulae, years, etc. due to the pressure I felt. I needed some motivation, so I watched The Shawshank Redemption and some episodes of Sherlock Holmes to boost my morale.

In January, I was doing well in my studies; however, I was struggling with electrostatics and current electricity. With no guidance or faculty, I was worried about the potential impact on my results. Then came the biggest blow of my life - I had two arrears in my first semester. Despite the setback, I remained confident in my abilities.

In February, I was offered a scholarship from Aakash Institute in Chennai for a test series in April. At the same time, an unfounded complaint was filed against me for irregular attendance and misbehavior - even alleging drug and alcohol abuse. I cleared the matter through counseling.

In April, I decided to move out of my hostel in order to focus on my exams. I left with just Rs.500 and my NCERT books and found myself on the streets of Chennai. Fortunately, my parents had arranged for me to stay with some relatives in Tambaram. I dedicated the time to revision and practice tests, and scored 257 in my first test, “ Depression struck “, Got 304 in the second!“Patted myself “, Got 357 in the third ! Got 410 in the fourth ! Got 464 in the fifth !

I recently achieved a great score in my state's entrance exam, and was so excited I was dancing in the streets of Medavakkam. In May, I faced a challenging situation when my relatives had to leave me alone for two days with no food or adults. I survived by eating bread and jam, biscuits, and instant noodles. On May 6th, I took the NEET 2018 exam and got a score of 408/720, which was enough for me to get into Government Tirunelveli Medical College. I owe my success to my family, friends, and God for helping me along my journey. I'm also thankful to Roman Saini and Tamoghna Ghosh for inspiring me to pursue my dreams. I'm thrilled that I was able to get my first 1K upvotes, and would like to dedicate this achievement to my family and friends who were there for me during the difficult times.

Story 4: Ritwik Kumar Sahoo, AIR 13

I scored 676 in NEET UG 2018 with an AIR 13 (UR 11)

I started class 11 with a high determination to succeed, although I had not been passionate about the medical field previously. I had no classroom coaching and found Maths to be my favorite subject. To my surprise, when I went to the NTSE Stage 2 exam, I found out about KVPY SA and studied for it and was placed 284th in the exam. I had not attempted any full-length practice tests throughout the year and instead focused on building concepts and applying them to problems. Contrary to popular belief, I neglected the NCERT Biology textbook for NEET the whole year and instead practiced 18,000 questions per month.

In the last year of my school, I was struggling to strengthen my concepts in Physics and Chemistry through studying from preferred books. However, I developed an interest in Biology due to my new teacher's guidance on the importance of NCERT for NEET. I attempted my first minor Allen test in December 2017 and started to work hard to improve my scores and ranks. I gave 10 tests, mainly major, in the last 6 days before the D-Day and got 676 in the CBSE answer key. On the result day, I was expecting an AIR less than 50 and I was pleasantly surprised to get an AIR of 13 and was offered a seat in MAMC, New Delhi.

In the past two years, I had a lot of distractions living in a town where many don't know the difference between NEET and AIIMS admission, but I was still successful in achieving my mission through self-study without taking any coaching. I didn't take too many tests, but I was still preparing hard. By December 2017, books had become my closest friends, and the tests I took afterwards showed me what I needed to work on. I still regret not studying the last three chapters of the NCERT Chemistry textbook, as it might have caused me to get the Polymer question wrong.

If you're looking for an all-in-one study solution, the EduRev Infinity Package is definitely worth considering.

Story 5: Diksha Patel, AIR 3792

The narrative of a young woman from a small village in Uttar Pradesh and how she overcame the challenges to pass the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET).

NEET Toppers Success Stories

I knew from a young age that my parents wanted me to be a doctor and I had heard of the AIPMT exam from them. I was good at studies from the start and so I was expected to do well. After passing 10th and 12th with good grades, I enrolled for graduation along with a coaching class for NEET preparation.

I had no idea of what to do and how to prepare and so I just followed what my teachers said to do. I gave my first NEET exam in 2017 but ended up with a score of 377, disappointing my father and myself. But he motivated me and I took the exam again in 2018, this time scoring 448. I thought that I just needed to cross the 500 mark to get a government medical seat and so I dropped out of my B.Sc. course and decided to go for NEET completely.

This time, I scored 521 but the rank inflation completely devastated us. My father still didn’t lose hope and motivated me to work harder and so I took a risk and decided to take a complete drop for the next year and prepare for NEET. With the help of a smartphone, YouTube videos, my old notes and online guidance, I managed to score. My father didn't lose hope and encouraged me to work hard in order to get into college.

In 2020, I was given a smartphone, which made life easier for me. I was able to score 606, but on the day of the results, my 4 marks decreased to 602, which was devastating. Despite being close to getting a college, I ended up having to take a drop again. I was discouraged and ended up destroying my preparation in 2021.

I was overwhelmed with the amount of insults, taunts and degradations that I had to endure. Thankfully, my father was always there to support me and I was able to make it this time with a score of 654. I'm so happy to be the first member of my family to pursue MBBS and I'm sure my parents are proud of me. I want to encourage anyone reading this to never give up on what they want in life.

This journey of 6 years might sound overwhelming to you, but I have no regrets.

“Everything happened was for a reason!” Now I realise the importance of this line.

All this was necessary to improve me as a person, make me responsible and daring.

I am going to be the first person to pursue mbbs, from my family, from my Village!

Can't get enough of seeing my parents proud and happy!
