  • Haryana comprises of 22 administrative districts, which are governed by a District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner. The Deputy Commissioner is supported by multiple additional officers to ensure proper administration of the district. 
  • The main responsibility of the Superintendent of Police in a district is to maintain law and order. Haryana was initially formed with around seven administrative districts, but additional districts were established later by reorganizing the existing ones. Haryana has always been a melting pot of diverse races, cultures, and religions. 
  • It became an independent state on November 1st, 1966. Despite occupying just 1.37% of India's total geographical area and having less than 2% of its population, Haryana has made tremendous progress in the last three decades in sectors like agriculture, industry, canal irrigation, and rural electrification. Currently, Haryana is one of the most prosperous states in India with a high per-capita income.

Ambala District

  • Ambala District is a district in Haryana and is governed by the District Magistrate with Ambala town serving as the district headquarters. 
  • It is situated in the northeastern region of the state and comprises three tehsils. 
  • According to historical records, Ambala District is considered one of the oldest districts in Haryana.

Bhiwani District

  • The Bhiwani District in Haryana was established in 1972, with Bhiwani town serving as its headquarters. 
  • The district is divided into five sub-divisions, and its major towns include Bhiwani, Loharu, Tosham, Siwani, Charkhi Dadri, and Bawani Khera.

Faridabad District

  • Faridabad District is part of the Gurgaon division in the state of Haryana, with its administrative center located in Faridabad city. 
  • The district gets its name from the city that serves as its headquarters.

Fatehabad District

  • Fatehabad District, which is one of the administrative districts of Haryana, was established in 1997 and is named after its headquarters town, Fatehabad.

Gurgaon District

  • Gurgaon District is among the 21 administrative districts in Haryana and has its administrative center in the city of Gurgaon. 
  • It is located in the southernmost part of the state and is known as a major industrial center in India.

Hisar District

  • The administrative center of Hisar District is situated in Hisar city. 
  • This district is considered as politically significant among the other districts of Haryana. 
  • It is also a part of Hisar Division in the state.

Jhajjar District

  • In 1997, Jhajjar District was formed from parts of Rohtak District, with Jhajjar town serving as its administrative headquarters. 
  • Bahadurgarh and Beri are among the significant towns within the district.

Jind District

  • Jind District is an administrative district of Haryana with its headquarters situated at Jind town. 
  • The district comprises of three sub-divisions. 
  • It is famous for its renowned Lord Shiva temples.

Kaithal District

  • Kaithal District in Haryana was formed in 1989, and Kaithal town serves as the district headquarters. 
  • Prior to its formation, the district was a part of Karnal District, and later became a part of Kurukshetra District in 1973.

Karnal District

  • Karnal District, located in Haryana, has a long history and is one of the oldest administrative districts of the state. 
  • The district headquarters is located in the city of Karnal. 
  • Karnal District is well-known for its renowned agriculture research institutes.

Kurukshetra District

  • The administrative district of Kurukshetra in Haryana is centered around the town of Kurukshetra, which is considered a sacred city and is named after King Kuru.

Mahendragarh District

  • In 1948, Mahendragarh District was established with Narnaul as its administrative headquarters. 
  • The district comprises two tehsils - Narnaul and Mahendragarh.

Mewat District

  • Mewat District is a recently established administrative district of Haryana, with Nuh town serving as its headquarters. 
  • The district was formed in 2005.

Panchkula District

  • The administrative district of Panchkula in Haryana was established in 1995, and it is centered around the city of Panchkula. 
  • This district is divided into two sub-divisions and two tehsils.

Panipat District

  • Panipat District, located in the state of Haryana, is known for its rich history and is recognized as a significant industrial center in India. 
  • The district headquarters is situated in the town of Panipat, which has been the site of three major battles.

Rewari District

  • Rewari District is a part of Haryana, which was established in 1989. 
  • Its administrative headquarters is located in the town of Rewari, and the district is situated in the southern region of the state.

Rohtak District

  • Rohtak District is one of the administrative districts of Haryana, and it has its headquarters in the town of Rohtak. 
  • This district is located in the southeastern part of the state.

Sirsa District

  • Sirsa District, which is one of the administrative districts in Haryana, has its administrative center located in Sirsa town. 
  • This district is divided into three sub-divisions and four tehsils.

Sonipat District

  • Sonipat District, an administrative district of Haryana, is named after its headquarters town Sonipat. 
  • The district has seven development blocks and three sub-divisions.

Yamuna Nagar District

  • Yamuna Nagar District, an administrative district of Haryana, was established in 1989, with Yamuna Nagar town as its administrative headquarters. 
  • Previously, it was a part of Ambala District. 
  • The district consists of several sub-divisions and is known for its industrial growth.
