Q.1. Write an Essay on "My Favorite Animal". (Word limit- 100)

My Favorite Animal

My favourite animal is the elephant. Elephants are intelligent and social animals, and they hold a special place in my heart. I admire their great strength, gentle behaviour and slow, graceful movements. They live in close family groups where the females lead the herd and care for the young ones. This shows strong female leadership and close family bonds. Sadly, elephants face many dangers such as loss of habitat and illegal hunting for ivory. We must protect their forests and stop poaching so that these magnificent animals survive for future generations.

Q.2. Write an Essay on "A Bus Stand Scene". (Word limit- 200)

A Bus Stand Scene

A bus stand is a very lively and busy place. It is like a gallery of different faces, clothes and moods. Last Sunday, I went to see off my friend. There was a great rush. Buses kept arriving and departing, and people hurried about with their luggage.

The bus for Delhi had not yet arrived, so we had to wait.

There was constant pushing, shouting and wrangling everywhere. Ladies sat together in small groups and children ran and played near the benches. Vendors sold newspapers, snacks and cold drinks while calling out the names of their items. People crowded around the water tap, tea stalls and book stalls.

We went to a tea stall and had a cup of tea to pass the time. We also bought two small books. Long queues stood at the booking windows and at the platform gates. Soon our bus arrived and I bought a ticket for my friend.

He boarded the bus and found a seat near the window. The driver took his place and the conductor blew his whistle. The bus moved slowly out of the stand. I waved and wished my friend a safe journey.

Q.3. Write an Essay on "Television". (Word limit- 200)

Television

Television is an electronic device with a screen that shows programmes sent by television stations or by satellites. It is one of the great gifts of science and has become common in many homes. Television gives both sound and picture. It provides entertainment in the comfortable surroundings of our house. We can watch serials, films, songs, plays and other entertainment on television.
Apart from entertainment, television is a useful source of information. We can learn the latest news from India and other countries. Sports lovers can watch live matches and commentary. Often there are live telecasts of important events, which help people to be informed quickly.
Television also has disadvantages. Long hours of watching can harm the eyes of children and may affect their studies. Some children and young people may become too addicted to television. Excess of anything is harmful, so television should be used in moderation and watched at suitable times.

Q.4. Write an Essay on "Visit to a Historical Place". (Word limit- 200)

Visit to a Historical Place

During the summer vacation, our Historical Society arranged a visit to Agra to see the Taj Mahal. A tourist bus was reserved and we had a safe and comfortable journey to Agra. It was a full moon night when we reached there.

The Taj Mahal is a magnificent building made of white marble. It stands on the bank of the river Yamuna. It was built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. About twenty thousand labourers worked for twenty-two years to build it. The main gateway to the Taj is a three-storeyed building standing on a platform of red stone.

A wide causeway leads from the gateway to the monument. The causeway has a water channel with fountains in the middle and a double row of cypress trees on either side. The central dome is large and white, and four elegant minarets stand at its four corners. Verses from the holy Quran are engraved on the walls. Visitors come from everywhere to admire the love and skill that the building represents. The whole monument is set in a beautiful garden.

The Taj looks beautiful at any time of day, but at night it is a wondrous sight. It glitters in the moonlight and seems like a palace of silver. The Taj is indeed one of the loveliest works of art in the world. It is a poem in stone and is counted among the seven wonders of the world.

Q.5. Write an Essay on "World Environment Day". (Word limit- 250)

World Environment Day

World Environment Day is celebrated worldwide on 5th June every year to raise awareness about the environment. The main purpose of the day is to make people conscious of the need to protect and conserve the environment. World Environment Day was launched by the United Nations Environment Programme and was first celebrated in 1974. Since then, 5th June has been observed each year.

Natural Environment and Its Need

In simple words, the environment means everything that surrounds us, whether living or non-living. Plants, animals, soil, water and air are parts of the environment. Living things depend on their environment and constantly interact with it. It is necessary for all life because organisms adapt to the conditions around them.

Why We Need to Protect the Environment

Pollution is increasing day by day and this has harmful effects on the environment. The atmosphere, hydrosphere and biosphere have become polluted by natural events like volcanic eruptions and forest fires, and by human activities such as deforestation, smoke from factories and the careless use of chemicals. Pollution causes diseases and damages ecosystems. It is our duty to reduce pollution and protect the environment for our health and for future generations.

Activities on World Environment Day

On World Environment Day people and organisations come together to work for nature. Many plant saplings and run plantation drives. Schools, colleges and local groups organise cleanliness drives, awareness programmes and tree-planting activities. Each year the United Nations selects a theme and encourages work on that theme. National and international organisations often join hands to support these activities.

Conclusion

To improve the condition of the environment, governments and organisations must work together to fight pollution and protect natural resources. Governments should introduce and enforce strict laws, discourage single-use plastics and promote planting of trees. If we all take small steps and act together, we can protect the environment and secure a better life for ourselves and for coming generations.
