Introduction
In GTO, individuals will face a series of obstacles and have three minutes to complete as many as they can. The ground will feature ten obstacles of varying difficulty, and points will be awarded for each task accomplished.
General rules
- If all ten tasks are completed within the time limit, candidates can repeat obstacles for extra points.
- Obstacles cannot be repeated until all ten have been completed at least once.
- The GTO will blow the whistle after two minutes and thirty seconds to signal the end of the time.
- Only one to three candidates will be present on the ground at a time.
Important points
- Ensure your safety and avoid any injuries during the obstacles. If you find a particular obstacle challenging, it's alright to skip it. Focus on completing easier obstacles or ones that are closer to you.
- The number of obstacles performed doesn't hold great significance. Candidates who completed just 5-6 obstacles have been recommended, as well as those who completed all ten and repeated 4-5 additional ones. The crucial point is not to give up before the three minutes are over and to keep trying even if you don't succeed on the first attempt.
- Preparation points: Try running continuously at full speed for 3-4 minutes. If you can run, you should perform well in the individual obstacles.
- Below is a list of obstacles along with images to provide an idea of what they entail.
Burma Bridge (Difficulty: HIGH)

This obstacle involves walking on ropes suspended between poles, covering a distance of 25 feet. The ropes shake as you move, so maintaining balance is crucial. This task also takes some time to complete.
Wall Jump (Difficulty: MID)

A wooden screen with an inclined plane on one side. Run up the slope and climb over an 8-foot wall.
Jump Through Tyre (Difficulty: MID)

A large tire hangs from a post at a height of 5 feet. Jump through the tire with your feet first. There's a small loop in the rope that can be used to hold and pull yourself up to get into the tire.
Note: This obstacle is not part of the army entries.
Tarzan Jump (Difficulty: MID)

Note: The Tarzan swing is not included in the air force entries.
Double Ditch (Difficulty: MID)

This obstacle consists of two ditches, measuring approximately 8ft3ft and 4ft3ft. The candidate needs to cross the first ditch using a rope and jump over the second one.
Note: This obstacle is not used in air force entries.
Tiger Leap (Difficulty: HIGH)

Climb up a 9-foot platform and leap a distance of 4 feet to catch a rope and descend using it. Make sure to catch the rope at chest level to prevent sliding down and hurting your hands.
Double Platform Jump (Difficulty: MID)

Climb a 12-foot platform and make two jumps. The first jump is to a lower platform located 8 feet above the ground, and the second jump is to the ground.
Rope Climbing (Difficulty: HIGH)

Climb a vertical rope and touch a post positioned approximately 4 to 5 meters high. Then, descend back down.
Note: This obstacle is not used in army entries.
Screen Jump (Difficulty: EASY)

The candidate needs to run over a slide and jump over a screen placed after the slide.
Drum Jump (Difficulty: EASY)

Jump across a 6-foot drum for males and a slightly shorter one for females.
Ramp Jump: (Difficulty: EASY)

Run on an inclined plane and jump across a line marked approximately 4 feet from the end of the plane.
Balancing Beams (Difficulty: MID)

Walk over zig-zag balance beams and complete the walk while maintaining proper balance. This obstacle is not used in the air force. Note that it can be challenging during the rainy season due to slipperiness, so it's advisable to attempt it as the last obstacle during that time.
Importance of Individual Obstacles
The number of obstacles completed is not of utmost importance. What truly matters is your energy, participation, and determination not to give up while facing these challenges. You must continuously tackle these obstacles for three minutes. If you're unable to complete some of them, it's perfectly fine. Just continue until your time is up and don't stop prematurely. Even a person who completes only 4-5 obstacles can receive a recommendation.
