President Droupadi Murmu Inaugurates New Building of Jharkhand High Court

President Droupadi Murmu commenced her three-day visit to Jharkhand on 24th May 2023. During the visit, she inaugurated the new building of the High Court of Jharkhand in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. Ranchi holds historical significance as the center of the Jharkhand movement. On 25th May, President Murmu will attend a conference organized by the Tribal Affairs Ministry, where more than 500 Women Self Help Groups will participate in Khunti. She will also preside over the 2nd convocation of the Indian Institute of Information Technology in Ranchi. Furthermore, a civic reception will be hosted in her honor.

UP Government Launches Online Education Program 'Pahal' for Rural Children

The Uttar Pradesh government, in collaboration with IIT Kanpur, has launched an online rural education program called 'Pahal.' The initiative aims to provide educational opportunities to children in rural areas who have limited access to quality education. 'Pahal' is designed to bridge the education gap between rural and urban areas. Initially, free online education will be provided in 10 government secondary schools across the state. The program will focus on providing the latest information related to science and mathematics to students in rural areas.

3rd Khelo India University Games Commence in Uttar Pradesh

The 3rd edition of the Khelo India University Games began in Gautam Budh Nagar district, Uttar Pradesh. The games commenced with the Kabaddi event on 23rd May 2023, and over 4,000 athletes and officials from 207 universities across the country are participating in 21 different disciplines. The official inauguration ceremony, held on 24th May, saw the virtual participation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Union Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also attended the event. Chief Minister Adityanath emphasized the need for grand preparations for the games to create a unique image of Uttar Pradesh in the field of sports. This edition of KIUG introduces water sports, with the Taal Lake in Ramgarh, Gorakhpur, serving as the venue for a rowing contest.

TV Actor Nitesh Pandey Passes Away

Television actor Nitesh Pandey, known for his role in the Starplus show "Anupamaa," passed away at the age of 51 due to a heart attack. The actor suffered cardiac arrest in Igatpuri, Maharashtra. Nitesh Pandey had a prolific career in the entertainment industry, appearing in serials such as "Manzilein Apani Apani," "Astitva...Ek Prem Kahani," "Saaya," "Justajoo," and "Durgesh Nandini." He also worked in films like "Om Shanti Om" and "Badhaai Do." Nitesh Pandey was married to actress Arpita Pandey, and he had previously been married to actress Ashwini Kalsekar.

Renowned Telugu Writer Kethu Viswanatha Reddy Passes Away

Kethu Viswanatha Reddy, a notable writer and novelist from Andhra Pradesh, passed away at the age of 84. He suffered a cardiac arrest and was unable to be revived at a nearby hospital. Kethu Viswanatha Reddy, who hailed from Rangasaipuram in Erraguntla mandal of YSR district, was living in Kadapa. He began his career as a journalist and later shifted to the teaching profession, retiring as the Director of Ambedkar Universal University. Reddy received several awards and honors for his literary works, including the Kendra Sahitya Akademi award.

IDBI Bank Appoints Jayakumar S. Pillai as Deputy Managing Director

Jayakumar S. Pillai has been appointed as the Deputy Managing Director on the Board of IDBI Bank. The appointment, approved by the bank's board of directors, is for a period of three years from the date of his taking charge. Pillai brings 32 years and 7 months of experience from Canara Bank, where he headed branches in various locations and gained expertise in branch banking, credit delivery, and international banking. He is currently working as the Chief General Manager and Circle Head in Canara Bank, Mumbai.

Paytm Payments Bank Re-appoints Vijay Shekhar as Part-time Chairman

Paytm Payments Bank has received approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to re-appoint Vijay Shekhar Sharma, the CEO of Paytm, as the part-time chairman for a year. Sharma is an Indian technology entrepreneur and business magnate who founded One97 Communications in 1997 and its consumer brand Paytm in 2010. The re-appointment aligns with Paytm's efforts to strengthen its leadership team and drive growth in the fintech sector. In the fourth quarter of FY23, Paytm's consolidated net loss narrowed to ₹168.4 crore, demonstrating positive financial progress.
