The All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi (AIIMS) has joined hands with the World Health Organization (WHO-SEARO) in a collaborative effort to ensure patient safety and quality control. WHO identifies patient harm as a significant challenge in global public health, leading to avoidable mortality and morbidity. In line with this, AIIMS is establishing a core committee for Patient Safety and Quality to implement advanced initiatives across various departments.
AIIMS will adopt the learning curriculum proposed by WHO, in association with the Duke-NUS Institute of Patient Safety & Quality (IPSQ). With a daily footfall of over 25,000 patients seeking treatment for various medical conditions, AIIMS aims to benefit from this new initiative. WHO will facilitate onsite visits of experts and study tours for AIIMS staff as and when required.
Prraneeth Vuppala, a 15-year-old chess player from Telangana, has achieved the prestigious title of Grandmaster, becoming India's 82nd Grandmaster.
