TVS SCS Wins UK Defence Ministry Contract for Supplying Land Rover Spares

TVS Supply Chain Solutions (TVS SCS), a leading integrated supply chain solutions provider, has secured a contract from the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) to supply spares and accessories for the Land Rover Wolf, a military vehicle. Acting through its agent, Babcock Land Defence, the UK MOD has chosen TVS SCS for its expertise in inventory management, procurement, and supply chain capabilities. 
This two-plus one-year agreement aims to ensure optimal availability of spares for the Land Rover Wolf fleet, which has been serving the UK defence ministry since the mid-1990s. The contract also includes post-design services support to maintain and support the platform. Ravi Viswanathan, Managing Director at TVS Supply Chain Solutions, expressed pride in their supply chain capabilities and their commitment to adding value to customers.

President Droupadi Murmu Inaugurates Gaj Utsav at Kaziranga in Assam

President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the Gaj Utsav - 2023 at Kaziranga National Park and emphasized the importance of elephant conservation in addressing climate change. She highlighted that elephants do not harm others without reason and urged humans to take responsibility for resolving human-elephant conflicts. 
President Murmu praised the Oscar-winning documentary "Elephant Whisperers" for its portrayal of nature's love. She emphasized that elephants symbolize progress in the country and called upon the nation to protect them. President Murmu also urged forest officials and concerned departments to take necessary steps to reunite wild elephants with their families if they go missing.

Andaman & Nicobar Command Conducts Joint Military Drill KAVACH

The Andaman and Nicobar Command conducted the joint military exercises 'KAVACH,' showcasing a coordinated approach among the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard. The exercises encompassed a range of operations, including amphibious landings, air-landed operations, heliborne operations, and rapid insertion of Special Forces. The objective was to achieve greater interoperability and synergy through surveillance, networked operations, and coordinated maneuvers. 
The exercises involved multifaceted maritime operations, such as amphibious assault ships, surveillance platforms, maritime air strikes, and complex sea maneuvers. This joint military drill, KAVACH, formed a part of the larger-scale joint-services amphibious exercise AMPHEX - 21 conducted in the Andaman and Nicobar group of islands in 2021.

Jharkhand Education Minister Jagarnath Mahto Passes Away at 56

Jharkhand Education Minister Jagarnath Mahto, a four-time JMM MLA from Dumri, passed away at the age of 56 while undergoing treatment in Chennai. Mahto had undergone a lung transplant due to complications from a COVID-19 infection. 
The Jharkhand government declared a two-day mourning period and canceled official ceremonies in honor of Mr. Mahto. Jagarnath Mahto's passing is a significant loss to the state, and his contributions to Jharkhand's education sector will be remembered.

Kalikesh Singh Deo Takes Charge as NRAI President

Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo has assumed the position of President of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) following the long leave of absence taken by President Raninder Singh. The Governing Body of NRAI unanimously approved the transition in accordance with Rule 19 of the NRAI constitution. 
Kalikesh Singh Deo, a member of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and a former Member of Parliament, brings his experience and leadership to the role. He had previously served as the Senior Vice-President of NRAI since September 2021.

WBPDCL Ranked No.1 Power Generation Company for FY'23

The West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited (WBPDCL) has achieved the top ranking as the best-performing power generation company in India for the financial year 2022-23. According to the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Ministry of Power, WBPDCL's three thermal power plants secured places in the top five ranks based on their performance and efficiency measured by plant load factor (PLF). 
The Bakreswar power plant secured the first position with a PLF of 92.38%, followed by Santaldih in second place (PLF-91.37%) and Sagardighi in fifth place (PLF-89.39%). WBPDCL's superior performance in availability, PLF, specific oil consumption, and auxiliary power consumption has contributed to increased profitability and record gross generation of 31.85 billion units.

IMF Chief Says India and China to Drive Global Economic Growth in 2023

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) predicts that the world economy will grow by less than 3% this year, with India and China expected to contribute to half of global growth in 2023. IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva cautions that the slowdown caused by the pandemic and geopolitical tensions will continue, leading to a prolonged period of slower economic activity. However, emerging economies, especially in Asia, show signs of momentum. 
While India and China are projected to drive global growth, other nations face significant challenges. The IMF warns that slower growth can exacerbate poverty and hunger, calling for concerted efforts to address these consequences of the COVID-19 crisis.
