FAQs on Word Problems: Ways of Multiply and Divide - Mathematics for Class 5: NCERT

1. What are the different ways to multiply numbers?
Ans. There are several methods to multiply numbers, such as the traditional method, the lattice method, the grid method, and the partial products method. Each method has its own steps and approach to multiplying numbers.
2. How can I divide numbers effectively?
Ans. Division can be done using various methods, including long division, short division, and chunking. Long division involves dividing the dividend by the divisor step by step, while short division is a quicker method that relies on mental calculations. Chunking involves dividing the number into smaller parts and then adding them up.
3. Can you explain the grid method of multiplication?
Ans. The grid method is a visual way of multiplying numbers. It involves drawing a grid and placing the digits of one number along the top of the grid and the digits of the other number along the side. Then, multiply the digits in each cell of the grid and add up the results to find the final product.
4. What is the partial products method of multiplication?
Ans. The partial products method breaks down the multiplication process by multiplying each digit of one number by each digit of the other number. Then, the products are added together to find the final result. It is a step-by-step approach that helps in understanding the concept of multiplication.
5. How can I use the lattice method for multiplication?
Ans. The lattice method involves drawing a lattice or grid-like structure to multiply numbers. The digits of each number are placed along the top and side of the lattice, and then multiplied diagonally. The products are then added diagonally to obtain the final answer.
