Detailed Summary

In this exciting story, Ranji and his friends are all set for a cricket match against the village boys on the riverbank because the park is not available. Sheroo's team from the village is good at cricket because they practice together a lot. Ranji's team is scattered around town, and sometimes their fathers join in the game, even though they're not very good at cricket.

Now, here comes the twist! A crocodile named Nakoo, who the village boys respectfully call Nakooji, lives in the river where they play. Nakooji doesn't like the noise and disturbance caused by the cricket match. He has a long snout and a scaly tail, and he's almost fifteen feet long. The boys are in for a surprise when, on the day of the match, they find Nakooji basking on their cricket pitch.

The boys try to get Nakooji off the pitch by throwing pebbles and a ball at him, but nothing works. Finally, Prem throws a ball that hits Nakooji on the snout, making him move away. The cricket match begins, and Sheroo's team bats first. Everything seems to be going well until Nakooji, who was sulking in the shallows, catches the cricket ball with his teeth, chewing it up. The bank manager, being generous, provides a new ball, and the match continues.

During the lunch break, Nakooji, attracted by the delicious smells, sneaks up the riverbank beneath the bank manager's cot. Unaware of Nakooji's presence, the match resumes. The bank manager comes to bat but claims a fly bothered him, and he retreats to a cot beneath a banyan tree, falling asleep.

As the match progresses, Nakooji sneaks further up the riverbank. The climax arrives when Ranji hits a powerful shot towards Nakooji, hitting him on the jaw and dislodging a tooth. Nakooji goes on a rampage, taking the cot with the bank manager on it, and causing chaos on the cricket pitch.

The boys scatter as Nakooji advances, knocking over stumps and swallowing items. The problem is resolved when Nakooji plunges into the river, releasing the cot and the bank manager. In the end, when the boys propose a return match, the grown-ups seem reluctant.
