Famous Sports Organisation in Haryana

To promote sports talent, the following organisations have been established in the state:

Haryana Chess Association

  • Established in 1983, the Haryana Chess Association (HCA) serves as the recognized authority governing chess in the region.

  • This boxing club is renowned as a dominant force in Indian boxing and is often referred to as a stronghold. At the 2008 Summer Olympic Games, India was represented by five boxers, four of whom hailed from the Bhiwani district in Haryana associated with this club.
  • During the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, China, boxers from this club secured two gold medals and one silver medal. Notable boxers affiliated with this club include Vijender Singh, Vikas Krishna Yadav, Jitendra Kumar, Akhil Kumar, Dinesh Kumar, Kavita Chahal, and Dilbagh Singh.

The Hockey Haryana Association

  • Established on June 24, 2009, Hockey Haryana is an officially recognized association within Haryana and holds affiliations with the Haryana Olympic Association (HOA) and Hockey India (HI).
  • Collaborating with the Haryana Olympic Association and the state's Sports Department, Hockey Haryana has devised a comprehensive long-term development plan.
  • The structure of Hockey Haryana comprises six main teams categorized as follows: Men's Senior Team, Women's Senior Team, Men's Junior Team, Women's Junior Team, Men's Sub-Junior Team, and Women's Sub-Junior Team.

National Aero Sports Centre

  • The inaugural aero sports center in India was inaugurated by the Aero Club of India on January 31, 2010. Positioned near Narnaul town in Haryana, specifically at the Bachhod airstrip.
  • Termed as the Rajiv Gandhi Aero Sports Centre.

Haryana Olympic Association

Kabaddi Association

  • The state comprises two Kabaddi Associations:
    (i) 
    Haryana State Kabaddi Association for National Style Kabaddi
    (ii) Haryana State Kabaddi Association for Circle Kabaddi
  • Both these Kabaddi Associations are affiliated with the Haryana Olympic Association.

Haryana Sports Authority

  • The State Government initiated the establishment of a Sports Authority to enhance sports standards based on the Sports Policy of 2015.
  • In March 2016, the State Government issued a notification for the formation of the Haryana Sports and Physical Fitness Authority, registered under the Haryana Registration and Regulation of Societies Act-2012. Its headquarters are located in Panchkula.
  • The Chief Minister serves as the Chairman and Vice President of this Authority, with other members including Secretaries from the State Industry and Commerce Department, Department of Urban Local Bodies, Youth and Sports Department, and Public Works Department.
  • The primary objective of this Authority is to promote sportsmanship and physical activity in the state, and it functions in several ways:
    • Planning and executing development strategies for sports advancement.
    • Granting approval for the establishment of Anti-Doping Labs and Sports Labs within the state.
    • Facilitating both basic and advanced infrastructure for various sports, including adventure games and gymnastics.
    • Assisting in the operation of sports training centers, academies, etc., across the state.
    • Offering financial support to government and private sports-related organizations.
    • Setting and maintaining essential standards for sports training within the state.
