Introduction

• The availability of reliable, quality, and affordable power is crucial for the rapid development of agriculture, industry, and the overall economy of a state.
• In Andhra Pradesh, the total installed utility power generation capacity amounts to nearly 20,000 MW.

Current Power Supply Scenario

• Agricultural consumers mostly receive seven hours of three-phase power supply in single or two spells, with supply timings rotating every 7 days.
• In rural areas, single-phase domestic lighting is provided from 6 PM to 6 AM.
• Three-phase supply to rural areas for domestic, commercial, and industrial consumers is combined with agricultural supply.
• Consumers, other than agricultural ones on mixed feeders in rural areas, typically receive between 12 to 16 hours of supply daily, depending on agricultural supply spell timings.
• A pilot project in 2011 separated agricultural feeders from domestic feeders in fourteen mandals.
