Part 4: Clerical Aptitude

Clerical aptitude test assesses most of the skills necessary to perform well in a clerical position. The clerical aptitude test includes alphabetic filing, attention to detail, data checking, comparison ability, spelling checking, errors spotting, and other miscellaneous issues related to the aptitude of the clerk.

BSF ASI Exam Pattern 2024

The candidates will need to successfully clear the written exam to progress to the second phase of the selection process. It is crucial for candidates to understand the BSF ASI Exam Pattern for each of the stages outlined below:

First Phase - Written Examination

• Each part of the written exam carries 20 marks.
• Candidates are required to complete the written test within 1 hour 40 minutes.
• The total marks for all parts amount to 100 marks.
• The criteria for negative marking has not been disclosed yet.

Second Phase

Candidates who qualify the written examination (first phase) will proceed to the second selection phase at various recruitment centers designated by HQ DG BSF. This phase will be of a qualifying nature. The stages of the second selection phase examination are as follows:

Physical Measurement

The shortlisted candidates will be allowed to appear for the physical measurement test. Candidates will be screened, and only those who satisfy the minimum physical standards, i.e., height and chest (chest applicable for only male candidates), will be allowed to appear in the next test. The physical standards are listed below per category:

Recruitment Process Overview

• Physical Measurements:
  • GEN/OBC/SC/EWS Categories: 77 Cms (Un-expanded), 82 Cms (Expanded)
  • ST Category: 76 Cms (Un-expanded), 81 Cms (Expanded)
• Note: Weight will be decided based on height and age according to medical standards for both males and females.
• Shorthand Test: Candidates eligible in physical measurement will proceed to the Stenography speed test. In this test, candidates must transcribe the given matter within a specific time frame based on their language choice, either 'English' or 'Hindi'.
• Passing Criteria: Candidates making mistakes up to 10% (80 words) will pass, while those exceeding this threshold will fail.
• Documentation: Candidates must carry all original documents during the documentation process, including age proof, educational qualifications, caste certificates, and other necessary testimonials.
• Medical Examination: Successful candidates will undergo a Detailed Medical Examination (DME) after completing the Stenography test. The DME will take place at specified locations.
