DRDO’s Mission

DRDO's mission includes the design, development, and production of advanced sensors, weapons, systems, platforms, and related equipment for the defence forces. It also focuses on delivering technological solutions to enhance combat efficiency and ensure the welfare of the troops. Additionally, the organization is committed to developing infrastructure, nurturing a skilled workforce, and establishing a robust technological base.

Leadership

The Chief of DRDO also serves as the Scientific Advisor to the Defence Minister. Currently, Shri S Christopher holds the position of Chief of DRDO, Secretary of the Department of Defence R&D, and Director General of R&D. The first head of DRDO was the renowned scientist Dr. D S Kothari.
