The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is an Indian agency responsible for creating military technology. Its headquarters are located in New Delhi, India. Established in 1958, DRDO was formed through the merger of the Technical Development Establishment, the Directorate of Technical Development and Production, and the Defence Science Organisation.
Initiated in 1983, the Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme (IGMDP) aims to develop a range of missiles. This includes the Agni Missile for intermediate-range surface-to-surface operations, the Prithvi Ballistic Missile for short-range surface-to-surface missions, the Akash Missile for surface-to-air engagements, the Astra Missile for air-to-air combat, the Trishul Missile for surface-to-air defense, and the Nag Missile for anti-tank purposes.
