Syllabus: Mathematics (New NCERT) for Class 6 | Maths for Class 6 (Ganita Prakash) - New NCERT PDF Download

In Class 6 Mathematics, you will explore numbers, shapes, fractions and much more. The question paper is usually divided into four sections (A, B, C, D), with questions worth 1, 2, 3, and 5 marks respectively.   In this chapter, you will explore concepts such as common multiples and factors, prime and composite numbers, and prime factorization, using engaging examples, as well as the Sieve of Eratosthenes and co-prime numbers.
• Chapter 6: Perimeter and Area
  The chapter on Perimeter and Area teaches how to calculate the perimeter of various shapes like rectangles, squares, and triangles by adding their side lengths. It also covers finding the area of squares and rectangles using multiplication. Additionally, it includes finding the area of irregular shapes by breaking them into known shapes.
• Chapter 7: Fractions 
  The chapter covers fractions, including reading fractions (numerator and denominator), using a number line, mixed fractions, equivalent fractions, simplifying fractions, comparing fractions, and adding/subtracting fractions.
• Chapter 8: Playing with Constructions 
  The chapter covers using a compass to draw circles and figures, constructing squares and rectangles with specific properties, exploring distances between points on rectangles, and breaking rectangles into squares.
• Chapter 9: Symmetry
  The chapter covers the concept of symmetry, including lines of symmetry for various shapes, reflection and rotational symmetry, and how to identify these symmetries in common objects. It also discusses angles of symmetry and how figures can exhibit multiple types of symmetry.
• Chapter 10: The Other Side of Zero
  It covers positive and negative numbers, integers, and their operations (addition, subtraction) on a number line. It also includes concepts like the inverse of a number, the comparison of integers, and practical applications such as banking and geographical measurements.
