Read the Passage and answer the question that follow (Question 31 to 35)
In simple terms, self-defense, also known as private defense, is a method which counters the action of the opponent as the means to protect oneself from harm. In the global scenario, self-defense, which is subjected to varied interpretations, is a type of acceptable legal justification to use force as the method to defend one’s self while there is imminent harm. Using this technique allows one to have the chance to avoid danger mainly when the attackers carry weapons, have accomplices or are bigger in size. Apart from that, self-defense can also offer one the desired mental and physical strength while helping a person to improve his/her balance, speed and endurance. There are many other reasons why being aware of self-defense makes sense and below are the following reasons.
Self-defense improves coordination and physical fitness: In the self-defense program, the non-locomotor, locomotor and manipulative movements develop gross and fine motor skills which leads to a holistic improvement in physicality and fitness. As a result, the learner can benefit from improved strength, coordination, balance, agility, flexibility, reactive power, speed and cardio. And all of these help the learner to become confident and physically capable.
Teaches discipline, respect and concentration: Self-defense techniques are acknowledged widely for the ability to cultivate discipline, respect and concentration in the learners.
Develops tenacity, assertiveness and determination: Mastering new techniques like self-defense needs tenacity, assertiveness and determination. So, here the learners need to try repeatedly, see others’ success, work through failure and make small improvements until they become completely successful. Besides, this skill also helps the learners to develop determination through drills that push them to success past the point of preconceived assumptions and limitations. So with this training, the learners can realize that they can carry out anything they put their mind to.
Develops confidence: Self-defense programs allow the learners to learn different types of skills regularly and here every new skill is more challenging from the previous one. So, developing these new skills results in developing pride and confidence in the learners.
Teaches awareness of danger: With a good self-defense program, the learners are taught awareness of danger. Specifically, it is better to avoid problems than solving one. So, the learners are taught to be aware of things that could mean danger to them.
Develops enhanced physical power: The self-defense training program doesn’t only allow to develop the mental strength of the learner, but this program helps to make the learner stronger both inside and out so that they can be prepared to face the real world dangers in a far better manner.
Teaches anatomy, nutrition and hygiene: Self-defense is a physical program which encourages different movements. Therefore, it is simple to reinforce the reason to eat well to offer our bodies the necessary fuel for playing. Besides with the right self-defense program, it is also possible to learn about hygiene like washing hands or cutting fingernails.

Read the Passage and answer the question that follow (Question 36 to 40)
Native to the mountain forests of southwest China, the giant panda is one of the most beloved animals in the world.
Giant pandas are identified by their distinctive black and white colouring. Their ears, muzzle, eyes, shoulders and legs are black while the rest of their body is white. Their thick hair keeps them warm in the cool, wet mountain zones. When on all fours, giant pandas average between 60-100 cm (2-3 ft.) tall at the shoulder and between 1-2 m (4-6 ft.) long. They can weigh between 100-115 kg (220-250 lb.), with males being larger than females.
One of the interesting evolutionary traits of the panda is their protruding wrist bone that acts like a thumb. This helps the pandas hold bamboo while they munch on it with their strong molar teeth. Bamboo makes up nearly the entire diet of the panda. Due to the low nutritional value of bamboo, pandas need to eat 10-20 kg (20-40 lb.) a day. Occasionally, pandas will eat other available food including small rodents, eggs, fish and other flora.
Bamboo provides a good amount of water but pandas need to supplement this with fresh water daily.
With only around 2,060 pandas living in the wild, the giant panda is considered vulnerable to extinction according to the IUCN Red List. Due to the fact that pandas reproduce so infrequently, it is very difficult for their population to recover from such a low point.
One of the main reasons that panda populations have declined is habitat destruction. As the human population in China continues to grow, pandas’ habitat gets taken over by development, pushing them into smaller and less livable areas. Habitat destruction also leads to food shortages. Pandas feed on several varieties of bamboo that bloom at different times of the year. If one type of bamboo is destroyed by development, it can leave the pandas with nothing to eat during the time it normally blooms, increasing the risk of starvation.
To combat this issue, the Chinese government has actively worked to restore and protect panda’s bamboo habitat, and these measures have shown positive results. State Forestry Administration surveys have concluded that the panda population has increased since the Chinese government’s actions, and in 2016, the IUCN upgraded the giant panda’s status from endangered to vulnerable.
While an increase in the population of panda is a good news for now, it is predicted that climate change will eliminate over 35% of the pandas’ bamboo habitat in the next 80 years.
