• They believe in the soul's immortality and that the body will be raised again on the Day of Judgment.
• Christians view Jesus’ resurrection as a model for what will happen to humanity. The Apostles’ Creed states, “I believe in… the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen” (John 6:40).
• It is believed that God will evaluate individuals to determine whether they will enter Heaven or Hell.

The Bible says, “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life” (Matthew 25:46).

• Certain Christians perceive Heaven and Hell not as physical locations but as spiritual states of being.
  • In Heaven, one experiences God’s presence and joy.
  • In Hell, one is separated from God and experiences sorrow.
• Some Christians reject the concept of Hell, arguing that a loving God would not condemn people to such a fate.
• Roman Catholics believe in Purgatory, a state where sins are atoned for and purification occurs before entering Heaven.

Last Judgment and Resurrection

• Many Christians anticipate the Second Coming, when Jesus will return to Earth, and all who have died will be resurrected.

The 39 Articles IV state, “Christ ascended into Heaven, and there sitteth, until he return to judge all men at the last day.”

The Bible notes, “In Christ all will be made alive” (1 Corinthians 15:22).

• Some Christians believe that the Last Judgment will occur, where all humanity will face God’s judgment.
• Roman Catholics, however, believe judgment happens immediately after death, rather than collectively on the Day of Judgment.
• After judgment, God determines whether individuals receive the reward of Heaven or the punishment of Hell.

Scripture states, “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due to us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad” (2 Corinthians 5:10).

How Belief in the Afterlife Influences Christians
