कविता का सार
‘मनुष्यता’ कविता में कवि ने मनुष्य के वास्तविक गुणों से परिचित कराया है। कवि के कथनानुसार, मनुष्य तभी मनुष्य कहलाने लायक है, जब उसमें परहित-चिंतन के गुण हों। मनुष्य का जीवन वास्तव में परहित के लिए न्योछावर हो जाने पर ही सफल है। ऐसे व्यक्ति को संसार याद रखता है। यदि मनुष्य परहित के लिए स्वयं को समर्पित नहीं करता तो उसका जीवन व्यर्थ है। प्रकृति के समस्त प्राणियों में से केवल मनुष्य के पास ही विवेक है। मृत्यु की सार्थकता भी दूसरों के लिए वुफर्बान होने में है। यह तो पशु-प्रवृत्ति है कि वह केवल अपने ही खाने-पीने का ख्याल रखे। सरस्वती भी उदार व्यक्ति का गुणगान करती है। पृथ्वी भी उसका आभार मानती है। उसके यश की कीर्ति चारों दिशाओं में गूँजती है। कवि महान परोपकारी व्यक्तियों यथा- दधीचि, रंतिदेव, उशीनर, कर्ण आदि का उदाहरण देते हुए अपने तथ्य को स्पष्ट करते हैं। हमें कभी भी अपने धन तथा वुफशलता पर गर्व नहीं करना चाहिए। जब तक परम पिता परमेश्वर हमारे साथ हैं, तब तक हम भाग्यहीन तथा अनाथ नहीं हैं। परोपकारी व्यक्ति का सम्मान तो देवता भी करते हैं। सभी मनुष्य वास्तव में बंधु हैं, परंतु हम अपने कर्मों के अनुसार पफल भोगते हैं। मनुष्य को सहर्ष अपने मार्ग पर आगे बढ़ना चाहिए। उसे विपत्तियों से नहीं घबराना चाहिए। वास्तव में मनुष्य जीवन की सार्थकता परोपकार में है, अन्यथा यह जीवन विफल है।
