• GDP at market prices calculates total value of goods and services produced within a year at market prices.

• If it increases, it means entrepreneurs have decided to produce more goods and services.

• This can happen even without an increase in actual investment, with the same machinery and labour.

• If the size of economy grows proportionately larger each year, while the growth rate is positive, it may not necessarily be increasing.

• The Incremental Capital-Output Ratio (ICOR) is the ratio of investment to growth, which is equal to the reciprocal of capital's marginal product.

• Swadesh Darshan, a Central Sector Scheme, was launched in 2014-15 for integrated development of theme based tourist circuits in the country.

• Under the scheme, the Ministry of Tourism provides Central Financial Assistance (CFA) to State Governments/Union Territory Administrations for infrastructure development of circuits. 

• NASA and ISRO are collaborating on developing an SUV-sized satellite called NISAR, which will detect the planet's surface's movements as small as 0.4 inches over areas about half the size of a tennis court. 

• The name 'NISAR' is short for NASA-ISRO-SAR.

  • SAR here refers to the Synthetic Aperture Radar that NASA will use to measure changes in Earth's surface.

  • It refers to a technique for producing high-resolution images. The radar can penetrate clouds and darkness because of the precision, which means that it can collect data day and night in any weather.

• The satellite will be launched in 2022 from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota (Andhra Pradesh) into a near-polar orbit. 

• In this mission, NASA will provide one of the satellite radars, a high-rate communication subsystem for science data, GPS receivers and a payload data subsystem.

  • NISAR will be equipped with the largest reflector antenna ever launched by NASA.

• ISRO will provide the spacecraft bus, the second type of radar (called the S-band radar), the launch vehicle and associated launch services.

• The Khajuraho temples are famous for their nagara-style architectural symbolism and erotic sculptures.

• The Mission is being jointly steered by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and implemented by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Pune, and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru.

World Health Day being celebrated on April 7, 2021.

• The World Health Day is a global health awareness day celebrated every year on April 7, under the World Health Organization's sponsorship (WHO).

• Since 1950, the World Health Day is held annually on April 7.

• The date of April 7 marks the anniversary of WHO's founding in 1948.

• This year's theme is Building a fairer, healthier world for everyone.

Central Vigilance Commission officers will be transferred every 3 years from now onwards.

• The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) has modified the guidelines pertaining to the transfer and posting of officials in government organizations' vigilance units, restricting their tenure to three years at one place.

• The tenure may be extended to three more years, albeit at a different place of posting.

• According to the CVC, undue long stay of an official in a vigilance department had the potential of developing vested interests, apart from giving rise to unnecessary complaints or allegations.

• To emphasis on the importance of the issue and to ensure transparency, objectivity and uniformity in approach, the Commission has decided to modify its earlier guidelines

• The first phase of transfer/posting has to be completed by May 31. The exercise of transferring all the personnel in question should be completed by June 30

• After transfer from the vigilance unit, the order said there would be a compulsory cooling off period of three years before anyone could be considered again for posting in the unit.

• Personal Disposable Income (PDI) ≡ PI – Personal tax payments – Non-tax payments.

• In economics, the GDP deflator is a measure of the level of prices of all new, domestically produced, final goods and services in an economy in a year.

• Like the consumer price index (CPI), the GDP deflator is a measure of price inflation/deflation with respect to a specific base year.

• The GDP deflator is a more comprehensive inflation measure than the CPI index because it isn’t based on a fixed basket of goods.

When GDP deflator is negative, nominal GDP is less than real DP. It means that there is deflation in the economy.
