• The government of India approved the setting up of a Plastic park at a cost of Rs. 120 crores in an area of 150 acres at Deoghar on 20-March-2018.
• It was announced that 36,000 direct and indirect jobs would be created.
• The park would have units that would manufacture woven sacks, moulded furniture, plastic crates, HDPE plastic combs, water tanks, bottles, pipes, small containers, toys, mosquito nets and leno bags among others.
• It was also announced that a plastic recycling unit would be established with an investment of Rs 3.50 crore in the district, the second unit in India after Guwahati.
• It was requested from the state government of Jharkhand to facilitate land/ building infrastructure to set up a Central Institute for Plastic Engineering & Technology (CIPET) alongside the Plastic Park so that freshers may be trained thereto become plastic engineers and technicians.
• It is estimated that polymer consumption in India would double from the current 10 million metric tonnes to 20 million metric tonnes by 2022.

• To minimize the impact of mining the State Government of Jharkhand proposed to bring Legislative measures in line with the model of Andhra Pradesh. 
• The chief mineral resources of the state include iron ore, coal, mica, limestone, manganese, mica, copper ore among others (40% of the country's mineral reserves are from Jharkhand). 
• Mining is an important economic activity in Jharkhand and mining activities have high ecological and social impact.
• The large scale mining and allied activities going on in the Jharkhand region has caused severe damage to the land resources of the area.
• Vast areas of rich forests and agricultural land belonging to the indigenous people have been laid waste because of haphazard mining.
• To minimize the impacts of mining, the State Government also proposes to bring some legislation in mining in line with the Andhra Pradesh model so that resources generated from mining sectors can be used to replenish the development funds available with the local bodies.

It also has plans to create a separate directorate of the environment.

• Forest Department of Jharkhand has established a Herbal Demonstration Nursery for demonstration, training and extension purposes at  Petarbar, Bokaro.
• The Nursery has been established on one hectare of land in order to prevent the endangered species of medicinal plants.
• More than 200 species are being maintained there, most of which have been collected from the wild forests of the state.
• Further, the Department of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperation is working on the concept of the establishment of the herbal park in the state.
• The park will help promote herbal farming and create more opportunities in the field of the herbal industry.
• Additionally, the Government plans to encourage the cultivation and use of herbal plants in the area, development of nature-based herbal tourism centres for tourist attraction in Jharkhand, promotion of sustainable livelihood in the herbal sector and opportunities for the herbal processing industry in the region.
• The herbal park will consist of an Aromatic Herb Garden, a Spice Herb Garden, a Kitchen Herb Garden, an Ornamental Herb Garden, and a Cosmetic Herb Garden along with other facilities.

JHARKHAND BUILDING (LEASE, RENT & EVICTION) CONTROL ACT, 2011

• It is an Act to regulate the letting of buildings and the rent of such buildings and to prevent unreasonable eviction of tenants therefrom in the State of Jharkhand.

The Act includes Premium, Salami, fine or advance of more than one month's rent not to be claimed or received

• It shall not be lawful for any person to claim or receive, in consideration of the grant, renewal or continuance of a tenancy of any building, the payment of any premium, salami, fine or any other like sum in addition to the rent or payment of any sum exceeding one month's rent of such building as rent in advance.

• Chota Nagpur Tenancy Act (CNT act) is a significant act for the tribal population of Jharkhand.
• It prohibits the transfer of tribal land to non-tribals and protects community ownership.
• The act is listed in the Ninth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. Hence, it is beyond judicial review. 
• This Act is applicable in North Chota Nagpur, South Chota Nagpur and Palamau divisions, including areas under several municipalities and notified area committees.

Section 80 of the Act-

• The State Government may make an order directing that a survey be made and a record-of-rights be prepared, by a Revenue Officer in respect of the lands in any local area, estate, or tenure or part thereof.
