In this meeting, issues like procurement centres to be opened by Food Corporation of India (FCI) /State Agencies, arrangement of storage space, evacuation plan for foodgrains and arrangement of packaging material are discussed.
Based on the estimates given by the State Food Secretaries, the targets of total procurement for the Central Pool are worked out in the meeting.
The Rabi Marketing Season (RMS) starts from 1 April and lasts up to 31 March next year. Mostly, wheat and sometimes barley is procured during RMS.

• From the decadal distribution of rainfall in the state (1956-2008), the Minimum average rainfall was received during 1991-2000 is not true.
•  The rainfall pattern in the state of Jharkhand has witnessed significant changes during the past decades. 
• It receives a majority of rains during the monsoon and only 17.7% of the annual rainfall received during other seasons.
• As per the decadal distribution of rainfall in the state (1956-2008), the average rainfall didn’t follow a range and it was continuously rising during the period.
• The year 1991 to 2000 received the maximum rains (average of 1623.5 mm) among all the decades whereas minimum average rainfall was received by the state from 1956 to 1960.
