| 1. What is the CLAT exam? |  |
Ans. The CLAT exam, also known as the Common Law Admission Test, is a national level entrance exam conducted in India. It is conducted for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate law programs offered by various participating National Law Universities (NLUs) in India.
| 2. What is the eligibility criteria for appearing in the CLAT exam? | |
Ans. To appear in the CLAT exam, candidates must fulfill certain eligibility criteria. For undergraduate programs, candidates must have passed the 10+2 examination or its equivalent with a minimum of 45% marks (40% for SC/ST candidates). For postgraduate programs, candidates must have completed their LL.B. or its equivalent with a minimum of 55% marks (50% for SC/ST candidates).

Ans. To apply for the CLAT exam, candidates need to visit the official website of the Consortium of National Law Universities and fill out the online application form. The application process usually starts in January and the last date for submission of the application form is in March. Ans. The CLAT exam consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and is conducted in an online mode. For undergraduate programs, the exam includes questions from English language, General knowledge and current affairs, Elementary mathematics, Legal aptitude, and Logical reasoning. For postgraduate programs, the exam focuses on subjects like Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence, Contract, Torts, Criminal Law, International Law, and others.

Ans. The CLAT exam is scored out of 150 marks for undergraduate programs and 120 marks for postgraduate programs. Each correct answer is awarded 1 mark, while each incorrect answer carries a negative marking of 0.25 marks. The final selection is based on the CLAT score, followed by a centralized counseling process conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities. The counseling includes seat allotment based on the candidate's preference and rank secured in the CLAT exam.
