time for lesson 17 if you remember last
time lesson 16 we did some right-hand
examples this time logically you can
probably conclude that we're going to do
some left-hand examples with sharp notes
and flat notes just kind of give you
some extra practice on those next time
we're probably going to do submit more
examples with eighth notes I believe if
I think that's what's coming up I
haven't quite decided yet but anyway

thanks okay last time we did right-hand
examples this time of course logically
we're going to do some left-hand
examples so here we obviously these are
in bass clef 4 4 once again the times
they ensure that means four beats in a
measure that the quarter note gets one
beat let's take a look at our first
example here this one seems to have a
lot of half notes so and you remember
how many does a half note get hopefully
said 2 so it's half notes almost all the
way across until the last note which is
a whole note which gets four so this one
the first let me count this two four six
eight the first eight notes actually
should have known that first eight notes
is something you've seen before maybe
you don't recognize it since it's in an
exercise but the first four measures are
eighth notes is the C major scale going
down with the left hand
or they didn't lay them as half notes
I'm just kind of showing you there so
you're going to use the same fingering
we talked about which I wrote it in here
for you and let's take a look here so
our starting position we're going to
start in a position like kind of at the
club C major scale so we're to have our
thumb on C remember the most important
thing out other they don't get tripped
up over the hand position so much just
remember what's most important is
playing the correct note with the
correct finger so make sure your finger
numbers are pretty solid you know what
those are so we have C I'll walk you
through it see with one be with to a
with three G with one remember we cross
under there F with two Eva 3a d with
four five
we have a c-sharp because we have a
sharp in front of that remember we're
just gonna go up
with finger three I know it's a little
bit weird of a fingering and then you go
one with D there were three measures
from the end you want four with F or D
sharp rather sorry then you want one
with E and then you want three with D
sharp
and then it says one with D you could do
that or you could actually I think what
would make more sense than what I wrote
here would be D with four but you could
do either one the one I wrote was
actually correct but if you feel more
comfortable ending the last three notes
for three that would be acceptable as
well so with the proper rhythm it should
sound like this
there you go so that should be that
example there moving on to example two
so we want to look out for any sharps
and flats this one we have mostly flats
any of the notes that are changed any
way or flat there's one at the end there
with a c-sharp so let's watch out for
that for this one you're going to start
out in C position but like I said just
remember that you want to play the
correct note with the correct finger so
you want to do C with 5 4 3 up with F G
three would be flat onto the
you want to go there were three measures
from the end so you have C with follow G
flat three
gee with two
see with one so we're going to be
stretching our hand right here to hit
that C with one they're going to go back
down the G with two three with the fly
I will see what c-sharp free wine and
then back down five woodsy
so when you play it forward to backward
with the correct rhythm it should sound
like this

so there you go those are our left hand

going to play some two hands at the same

about or did today rather was some left
hand examples on the keyboard with the
sharp notes and flat notes that we've
talked about before so as always leave
