alright ladies and gentlemen time for
lesson 31 today all we're doing is
playing two more examples in D major if
you remember D major has two sharps F
sharp and C sharp and next time I think
we're going to do the key of a major if
you remember the key of a major from the
theory videos before the circle fifth
ones the key of a major has how many
sharps to give it a second three sharps
F sharp C sharp and G sharp so that's
what we're doing today and that's what
you can look forward to next time and

okay so here we go with lesson 31 we
have another D major example today so
I'll go over this just real quick
finally ever another one in three four
time signature so what does that tell
you compared to four four think about it
for a second hopefully you said it means
that we have one less beat per measure
with the total of three so instead of
four beats per measure now we have three
so we have the key of D major which has
two sharps F sharp and C sharp and if
you notice here or I have something new
for you actually we're going to start
adding some newer concepts back into the
lessons now that we've been doing
playing examples for a while so I just
want you to take a look at this one this
one you see a note here with a dot below
it a quarter note with a dot below it
basically and it can also appear this
way with the dot above and the stem
pointing down this is called a staccato
note and when you see that you're just
gonna play the piano very short so
nothing too special the but keep in mind
that if the dot appears to the side of
the note then it's a dotted quarter note
when it appears above or below it's a
staccato so there's the difference even
though the two looked pretty similar
let's put this to the side
so here we have our example we have our
right hand here we're starting with D on
with one a with five now this next note
what note is that think about it and
hopefully you said f-sharp with three
and then you've got a with one so we're
gonna shift our thumb a little bit here
to hit a with one and then you got B
with five G with three and then as soon
as you hit G with three you're gonna
tuck your thumb under to hit a with one
for the beginning of measure three and
then we got C sharp with three or yeah
sorry just so G with three and then you
have a with one the beginning of measure
three right and then C sharp with three
and then we've got D with four at the
end of measure three then you're gonna
shift down to hit G with four F sharp
with three you with two and we're going
to shift our thumb just a little bit to
hit C sharp with one
now if you notice this example is twice
as long as before so we're only doing
one example today but this is a I
believe a 10 measure
let me count 1 2 3 4 5 yeah 10 measure
example rather than a 4 or 5 measure
example so let's take a look here so we
we are now at the second line with D
with 1 you got rest then you got f-sharp
with 3 then you got deal with 1 again
with the second measure of the second
line and you got c-sharp with 2d with 1
again you're gonna hit a with - you're
gonna spread your fingers a little bit
here we're on the third measure of the
third line between the first and second
note and we're gonna hit this a with 3
and then you're gonna hit C sharp with 5
because remember we have that in our key
signature and then you're gonna shift
down a little bit
to hit for G f-sharp with 3 you with 2
and D with 1
so once you can play it forward to
backwards smoothly it should sound like
this remember we have staccato notes
everywhere but oh well almost everywhere
if he notice the second line the second
measure there does not have staccato
notes so I'll play those like normal so
here we go and if you notice each line
we have piano to crescendo to Forte so
from soft to loud as everything with the
second line I just want to point that
out and then let's go to the bass clef
or left hand we've got D with five G
with two then he got he with four
Gogi with two again
you got a with one not too hard here so
far now we're in the beginning of line
two with D with five G with two
he was 30th for sorry night the
next-to-last measure we got G with 2
and you got F sharp with three and then
you got D with five so right and left
hand together should sound like this oh
sorry let me start again
once again I think I could have done a
little better with the dynamics let me
try again
so there you go there's our example
today for lesson 31 our example in
d-major next time we will be doing the a
major scale which has three sharps which
we'll talk about next time so anyway I

okay that wraps up lesson 31 all we did
today was two more D major examples
remember D major has two sharps you want
to look out for F sharp and C sharp so
even though the F sharp and C sharp only
appear on I believe it's the top law in
this trouble Club it's the top line and
the third space and then on the bass
clef it's the the second one up from the
top and then the second space even
though they only appear in those two
specific locations they mean that every
F and every C is going to be sharp but
hopefully knew that by now but just to
remind you of that so next time you look
forward to we're gonna do the a major
scale and then we're going to do a
examples an a major and then we're going
to go all the way around the circle of
fifths I may put out a different kind of
video just to break it up I know it's
been kind of route routine lately I
don't think that's a bad thing but
sometimes it's good to break it up but
