to the way people have shared seeds
since the beginning of time the way that
we have taken care of the land without
any herb asad's and pesticides and and
where we definitely have we know how to
take the best seeds from the plant that
grew well and to plant those in other
places we we know this when we're deeply
engaged with farming I feel like it's a
way to control the food industry and I
say industry because they're very few
companies that really control the whole
food system yeah and they are industries
yeah it's a machine it's a machine and
I'm trying to get back to the land that
really belongs to all of us and it's our
right as human beings I think on this
planet I really believe that that
learning about food and where it comes
from is really essential to restoring
our democracy I think Washington
preferred to be a farmer than the
President and I think their commitment
to the land is what allowed the
democracy to flourish at the beginning
and it's our disconnect to the land and
cannot disconnect food is to be
disconnected with the values I think you
have a an enhanced feeling and
definition
land because normally when people talk
about this or devote their time and
energy to it they're thinking of wild
land and you're often talking about
cultivated land you're talking about the
garden land as well as the Yosemite land
exactly I am and that's and I think
you're trying to make a connection
between the two oh we need both and we
need the most enlightened farmers to
help us with droughts and all that's
going on right now with with global
warming but I see that when you get
reconnected in that way to nature that
your understanding of global warming is
present and and that you begin to learn
why it's so important to to take care
