We've got three hundred and ninety-six kids
shooting in this event and they're all top
notch.
[Tammy Onderdonk]
This opportunity to win a scholarship has
never been presented before.
[Charlie Wilson]
Eight of these kids today will walk away from
here with ten thousand dollars in scholarships
from the San Antonio Livestock Exposition.
[Tammy Onderdonk]
It's just, it's just amazing.
We couldn't be more thrilled.

All of the kids that are in this shoot are
either a member of the Ag 381 Clays Program
and a member of FFA, or they're a member of
the 4-H Shooting Sports.
And any time a kids goes through 4-H or FFA
, it requires a very strong support network
and that's their parents that encourages them,
supports them.
[Charlie Wilson]
We've had mommas and daddies and little brothers
and little sisters and grandmas and grandpas
and aunts and uncles and cousins that have
come and helped them participate.
The family unit is so important and this is
truly a family style event.
[Tammy Onderdonk]
It's probably the greatest program we've ever
been involved in, hands down.
The kids, through 4-H, through FFA, they're
taught safety, they're taught how to be a
team player but shoot for yourself, how to
go out there and be confident.
If you miss a bird you shoot again.
So I think it's a confidence builder.
[Tyler Galbreath]
I started shooting at about eleven years old,
went home early every shoot my first year.
Second year was a little better and just kept
getting better.
You can do anything you set your mind to.
[Robert Galbreath]
I think it tells him that, you know, if you
work hard at it enough, you know, nothing
is unobtainable.
[Tyler Galbreath]
It just teaches you to be ready for anything.
We shoot in rain, sleet, snow- anything but
lightning and tornadoes.
[Tammy Onderdonk]
It's a family sport . We don't allow our kids
to be dropped off and then the parents come
back two hours later after practice.
We stay with each other.
It's safety, safety, safety.
And I just think that it's one of the best
programs that keeps the family together.
[Paige Shearer]
My Dad told me about it and I wanted to try
it.
And I didn't know if I would like it or not.
Turns out, I like it!
[Charlie Wilson]
This is the first time an event like this
has ever been held anywhere in the United
States, connected with a major stock show.
We're so blessed and so thankful that San
Antonio Livestock Exposition has wanted to
recognize all these kids, doing something
that they want to do.
[Tyler Galbreath]
Without them we wouldn't have this, people
and contributors that make stuff like this
happen.
