all right we have buttons pretty cool
right now think about that these two
items do not exist anywhere on earth
until you made them and I know that
sounds just kind of yeah I made them but
think about it you didn't have to go out
to a store he didn't have to go to
jo-ann's fabric you didn't have to
battle scrapbook moms to get them
they're right there
you made them that's pretty cool
now the surface of them I'm just going
to show you a little trick and I got one
shot at this but sometimes you can clean
up the surface of an item by dipping it
in acetone so here I got this really
rough button if I want a smoother
surface or a surface that looks a little
bit more shiny here is a baby food
container filled with acetone now
acetone is not acid it doesn't eat your
skin you know you can dip your finger in
it you can wipe it around a little bit
but it doesn't it's not going to kill
you
in fact it it just dries out your skin
to the point of no return and that's
about it
but don't go swimming in it you know
don't do it excessively amounts of it on
your skin you'll be alright this is a
piece of sandpaper I got the sponge but
it can be just about any sandpaper what
I'm going to do is I'm just going to
stab the set button with an exacto knife
drop it in the acetone swirl it around a
little bit then I'll stab it one more
time
and sometimes it wants to come out
sometimes it doesn't and then I'm just
going to let it drip bring it over to
these sandpaper and just lay it on top
it's why sandpaper
well sandpaper has you know a little bit
of the grit that allows the one edge not
to get stuck too
it because right now this plastic is
technically melting onto itself and it
takes you know some pieces take two
seconds
some pieces take a couple minutes but
once dry you'll see that the surface of
it is a lot smoother now let's see if I
can zoom in on that see it's got a
little bit of Ridge in there you know
that's gonna be unavoidable but it's now
shiny certain things look good shiny
certain things look dull for dull I use
a product called vas beer frosting it's
made for frosting glass it's a great
product and there's also vast beer satin
finish so I sometimes use that so those
those two for a matte finish then I use
acetone for the gloss alright so that's
just a way of cleaning up the button if
you want and enjoy your buttons
