cover colors in Italian they come up a
lot pretty much everywhere so you may
want to learn them they're easy now how
to say colors in Italian cool or cool or
D Co Laurie don't worry if you can't
drill your tongue yet we learn how to do
that
that's quite advanced call or D this is
how you say colors
why do you say koulouri well because the
word color is masculine call order it
should end in O you should be coal or oh
but it's not coal or wood it masculine
word although it ends in E so that makes
it irregular the plural form is e
polarity so the plural form of the word
color is actually regular the singular
form is irregular so you have to learn
it by heart the color black is Nero GRA
GRA joe brown marker on it but also
that's red
Erin Shana orange jell-o yellow bear the
green observe light blue blue blue it's
pronounced blue in Italian violet viola
and rosa pink Bianco white and don't ask
me why I didn't write that in white
because I actually did score oh yeah
these are two adjectives in their
standard form which is the masculine
form but you can also transform them and
make them become feminine scooter
this means dark but it's in its feminine
form and
Chiara this means light bright pale in
its feminine form and that's in its
masculine form now some grammatical
insights to colors first of all all the
colors have masculine gender meaning the
black color is called ill coal or a
narrow ill coal or a narrow and for
those of you who are following the
entire course we've covered the gender
and we know that ill is the definite
article in its masculine form so color
is a masculine noun
therefore the adjective is in its
masculine form as well if we had a car
for instance the word car in Italian is
machina and he ends in a therefore we
know it's feminine so if we wanted to
say a black car we would have owner
machina Neera because we would have to
adjust the adjective according to the
gender of the word that the aptitude
refers to and the same for the article
so article and adjectives follow the
noun the gender and the plurality of the
car of the noun in this case the car is
singular and feminine and so for all the
other colors so the other colors are now
presented in their standard form which
is the masculine form now what if we
wanted to make these colors plural for
instance I have black glasses we we we
would say Oh which means I have aki ali
which means glasses and aki ali is
masculine plural nary we would have
the plural masculine form of the
adjective black because it has to go
along with the noun
okay now some colors change and some
colors don't
so some colors stay in the same way all
the time and some colors change when
they are in their plural form for
instance narrow becomes nary Grigio
becomes gray G Maroney becomes Maroney
Rosso becomes Rossi Erin Shana
becomes Erin Choni cello becomes jelly
birthday becomes Verdi suru becomes
utterly blue blue blue doesn't change so
a blue car
una machina blue blue glasses daily of
key ally blue blue doesn't change so
it's gender and number
insensitive same for viola viola doesn't
change Rosa Rosa doesn't change okay so
we have these exceptions these colors
behave a little bit in a way that you
wouldn't expect as you can see in
English the adjective goes before the
word in Italian the adjective goes after
basically if you want to say a pale
green you say Verde
quiero and you don't say quiero ver de
that wouldn't make much sense
same for I don't know dark blue blue
