hello guys this is a male again and
welcome back to another tutorial on
Mapes assembly language and well don't
forget to go to smartphones calm so
today I'm going to talk to you about
getting user input but not integers I'm
gonna tell you I'm gonna teach you how
to get floats from the user so it's a
little bit different so make a new file
and save the new file I'm gonna save it
to my desktop but I'm gonna color it in
floats and save and now we have that
data and that text and here I just want
a message or a prompt so I'm just gonna
give it a name message : this is a label
right here this is a label so this is
just like a variable so the data type is
gonna be asked easy because it's gonna
be text and it's gonna be enter the
value of pi' this is gonna be my message
right here but i also because i'm gonna
be dealing with floating point numbers
in floating point numbers right here
we don't have immediate like add
immediate or load immediate and we also
we don't have like the zero register
because if you see this other the normal
registers these are they write the
general-purpose registers but for
floating-point we have this right here
we have the f registers and they are in
coprocessor one so here we don't have
like here we don't have like a default
for actually we don't have a default for
the zero register we don't have a
default for that like like here so it's
always good practice to just make your
own so you can just place it in random
access memory so let's say i'm gonna
name it zero as a float or as float and
so it's gonna be of type float and the
value is going to be zero point zero
so right now I have my float right here
in random access memory but I also want
to get it so I'm gonna say load word
coprocessor one and then I can just put
it in Dallas on F 0 so Delta sine of 0
is gonna have the constant 0 so now I
have this is gonna be like like zero so
I can use it for addition to move values
and stuff like that so now I just want
to display the message I want to display
the message to the user so I'm gonna say
loading media Dallas on V 0 comma 4 to
display text and then load address
Dallas on is 0 in the argument message
and then Cisco so this is going to
display the message display message and
then I want to read it I want to read I
want to read the input the value of pi'
I want to read it read user's input so
I'm going to say loading media Dallas on
V 0 comma 6 and this 6 is the code to
read a float so then I say Cisco so
right here a float or the value that the
user is gonna enter is not gonna be in
v-0 as it was with integers it's gonna
be in F 0 because remember all the flow
registers like for floating numbers from
floating point numbers and for doubles
they have to they have to use the DF
registers so the value entered by the
user is going to be stored in the F 0
register so now that I have this value
right here right and actually this right
here I don't wanna give 0 1 it may be in
F let's say F 4 so F 4 not contain 0 as
a float yes because the value here is
going to be returned in F 0 so now
I just want to display the value display
value so I'm just gonna say load
immediate Dallas I'm v-0 and it's gonna
be to to display a float and then I can
just to add that s add single precision
and I can add I have to store the value
that I want to add in the design of 12
this is the argument so f12 is for the
argument or the value that you want to
print out and then dollar sign f0 and
Dallas on f4 so this is gonna this is
gonna add 0 0 is in a 4 right here 0.0
and it's gonna add it to the value that
the user entered and then it's gonna be
stored in f12 and f12 is the argument so
it's gonna tell the system to print out
this value right here in f12 and finally
we say execute so sis Cisco or system
call and if we save run assemble and
then execute a program it says enter the
value of pi so 3.14 and right here you
can see 3.14 I press ENTER and voila
underneath you see 3.14 so now you know
how to get a float from the user it's a
little bit different than getting a flow
of the tank and integer from the user so
but it's still pretty simple so thank
