we will look at some of the questions
question number 1 right each of the
following as decimals 200 plus 60 plus 5
plus 1 by 10 so if you observe closely
you see this part represents the whole
number part and this part represents the
fraction so varying your decimal number
line between the whole number part and
the fractional part so 200 plus 60 plus
5 is 265 and what is 1 by 10 1 by 10 is
0.1 so therefore this becomes 2 65.1
next 3 3 by 5 so this is in the form of
mixed fraction so first of all what we
can do is we can convert it in the form
of improper fraction that is multiply
these two and then add to this so 5 into
3 is 15 plus 3 is 18 so this is 18 by 5
so we all know how to convert mixed
fraction to improper fraction right so
once you have got it in the form of
improper fraction now you have to
convert it into decimals so in order to
convert to decimals we will might want
the denominator to become 10 so for that
we multiply the numerator and the
denominator by 2 so we get 36 5 10 so 36
by 10 is nothing but 3.6 c-137 plus 5 by
hundred so again in this case 137 is the
whole number part and 5 by 100 is the
fractional part so this can be written
as 137.5 by 100 would be point zero five
so this becomes 137 point zero 5 7 by 10
plus 6 500 plus 4 by thousand so this
can be read so everything is after the
decimal point
because
we only have ten hundreds and thousands
so we do not have anything in once tens
hundreds so we will write it as zero
point seven six four so this is the tens
place this is the hundreds please and is
the thousands place e 700 plus 20 plus
five which is the whole number part plus
nine five hundred this is the fractional
part so this becomes 725 whole number
part point because the decimal point
will separate the whole number part at
the fractional part so in the fractional
part we have nine in the hundreds place
so what is there in the tens place zero
and in the hundreds place we have nine
so this becomes 725 point zero nine
right each of the following decimals in
words one zero eight point five six how
do we write this so this one zero it
makes 108 so this can be written as 108
point so what would be this it will need
to be 108.50 six or 108 point five six
yes it would be 108 point five six it is
not 56 because this is the tenths place
and this is the hundred space not it it
is not the tens and one space tens and
ones are here so this is tenths and
hundredths therefore this would be one
hundred eighty two point five six so
what would be this five point zero zero
eight so this would be five point zero
zero eight this one this is thirteen
point seven

what would be this so this can be
written as zero point six there is
another way of writing it as 6/10 that
means there is a six at the ten space
similarly this can also be written as 13
and 7 tenths because there is a seven at
the pen space this can be written as
five and eight thousands because 8 is at
the thousand space this can be written
as 108 and five tens and six hundredths
so these are also alternative ways of
writing the same decimals question
number three express the following as
centimeter using decimals so the first
one is 5/4 centimeters and 2 millimeters
now for centimeters plus 2 millimeters
so 2 millimeter would be how much so 1
millimeter this equal to 1 by 10
centimeter that is one part out of 10
parts of centimeter so that's the
relationship between millimeters and
centimeters so therefore this would be 2
by 10 centimeters so four centimeters
plus 2 by 10 is 0.2 centimeters so 4
plus 0.2 would be four point two
centimeters so this can be written as
four point two centimeters
what about 83 millimeters so 83
millimeters can be written as now one
millimeter is equal to 1 by 10
centimeter so 83 millimeter would be 83
by 10 centimeters so this would be 8
point 3 centimeters
