minus B in the Venn diagram a minus B is
represented by the region that includes
a would not be similarly we can
represent the minus a in the Venn
diagram
note that a minus b and b minus a are
different regions in the Venn diagram
in the set-builder form a minus B can be
represented as shown it is read as the
set of all X such that X belongs to a
and X does not belong to B
let's see an example consider the set C
and D as shown the C minus D includes
the elements 1 & 2 since both the
elements belong to C but not D similarly
D minus e includes the elements 4 & 5 we
observe that C minus D is not equal to D
minus C
also note that the sets a minus B a
intersection B and B minus a are
mutually disjoint sets that is the
intersection of any of these two sets is
the null set
