okay so in this video I'm going to make
a continuation of that video I did on
drawing realistic texture now this will
continue on the one I did before but
with this one I'm going to make sure
that you have the complaints as far as
video quality is concerned and also I'm
going to change the basic structure that
I use to draw the texture now in the
video I did before I did like nine cubes
okay and my reason for doing that is
because texture when you're drawing
texture right texture without showing
any change in terms of lighten shadow is
just a pattern it will just be flat so
when you're drawing realistic texture
you have to make sure that the texture
conforms to the curvature or the
structure of the form over the object
that it covers okay so for example if
you drawing a ball or a box or whatever
it is the texture has to follow that
form and also has to respond to light in
the same way as if you know if your
shading it's fair texture has to also
respond to light and shadow in the same
way okay so in other words you get stark
in the shadow areas and a light and the
light areas and so on okay so what I'm
going to do is I am going to actually
maybe I'll just use a cylinder huh so
what I'm going to do is I'm going to
make a cylinder that will and I'm going
one cylinder and what I'm going to do is
put bands of texture around that
cylinder like okay let's say we have a
cylinder here alright this is
essentially what's going to be happening
we have a cylinder here right and let's
say there's light shining like this so
that means under here is going to be in
shadow and as it comes up okay gradually
lighter and then the top will be a
little bit of shadow and then here you
will get light right here so right here
is where we have a streak of light see
and this is the general value pattern
on a cylinder when it's lit like that
okay so basically this is what I want to
do to the texture so the texture is
going to pretty much respond to light in
the same way this does
you're going to have shadow down here so
it's going to be like this right here
that will be shadow and so you'll see
that it gets darker down here right
right here it gets lighter as it goes
around right here there'll be like a
streak of highlight and then up here you
see that it gets a little bit deeper in
value again as it goes towards the top
and this is pretty much the value
pattern that follows on any cylinder
okay and that's pretty much what I'm
going to do here so I'm making you see
that when you want to make texture
realistic you have to have it conform to
light and shadow
okay and also break the contour so this
line is going to be broken by the time
I'm done let's see I may use a point
five and I may use a 0.05 all right
point oh five I think will be perfect
for the just so you can get the details
and stuff like that all right so not
sure what I'll start the first one with
maybe I'll do like a kind of four or
something like that but overall you will
notice that I'll go from deep value and
the texture will be lighter as it goes
across and once you maintain that type
of a texture or that type of approach
your textures will dramatically
dramatically get more realistic okay and
it avoids having a flat texture on
whatever you're drawing you don't want
to have a pattern you want to have a
texture okay so all right let's start it
up
yep and that's pretty much it so if you
notice with each of the different
textures and this is really fun
the with each of the different textures
that I did I follow this basic value
pattern value pattern to the cylinder
where once light is shining it their
shadow onto the bottom and as it goes up
it gets lighter and then at the top is a
little bit darker than where the
highlight is this areas that the top is
not necessarily in shadow but the thing
is because the cylinder is curving at
the top doesn't receive the same amount
of light as areas that are directly
facing it so in this area where the
direct light is or in other words this
part of the Sun is directly facing the
light that will be the lightest and
pretty much that's what I followed in
this so you can pretty much feel the
line right here going right through and
this is really good practice you know
it's um because the thing is you'll be
applying this in anything that you draw
with your drawing hair or fabric or fur
or scales rope anything that has texture
will always follow the curvature of the
thing that is covering and it will as a
result of that also respond to light in
the same way all right so hopefully you
guys found that useful and you know you
can practice on this
