DIY "Peerless" Style Watercolor Paints Video Lecture | Master the Art of Watercolour Painting (English) - Art & Craft

somebody was wondering if I knew how to
make my own peerless watercolor paint
well peerless paints come in a little
booklet there like a die mineral die
watercolor that's on little strips of
paper and you just wet the paper you wet
your brush dip it under the paper and
that's how you get your color and
they've been used for like a photo
tinting and stuff like that but stampers
recently have really jumped on the
bandwagon using them so I've known about
them quite a while being a water
colorist but um paper with paint on it
and me being very klutzy just didn't
seem like a good idea so I never bought
them but um after reading that I did
think that it might be cool to be able
to make something like peerless paints
that could be portable and made by what
we already have so I did a little
experimenting and what I made I colored
these two images with and I'm going to
show you what worked really well and
what didn't know this was my own I
decided that I could probably put media
on some yupo which is a plastic paper
and here I use just dye reinkers and
they don't seem to be drying this was a
couple hours ago I put these out and
they're still very um very wet and I
don't know if they're gonna dry so I
would consider this to be a fail maybe
by tomorrow morning they'll be dry and
that'll be a success but that didn't
work so well so my next idea was to take
my markers and just to kind of swatch
out a bunch of variety of markers and
that worked pretty well of those some
you can see if I tip them some are still
a little glossy and I think it's just um
you know because of the dye I just think
it's not hearing to the the yupo paper
and then I thought well I know that the
watercolors will dry and you post so I
tried some of my yurka watercolors here
and then I'm like well you know what I
really want something that will dry
quicker and I use my inktense blocks and
they work the best because I could just
well show you how we do it cuz I think
this is the best the best route I think
the regular watercolors are good too
markers are alright but I still think
they may smudge and the idea is for this
to be portable I'm not um I'm not saying
anything negative about peerless
watercolors I'm just saying you know hey
here we can make something kind of
similar so I think the intense blocks
work the best but watercolors also
worked good and what I'm going to do
here is I've got a blog
override and I'm just for a second
dipped it into some water and on the
yupo paper I am just scribbling out a
swatch and again you Poe is a synthetic
watercolor paper so these this will dry
on here but if I read it I can lift all
of it back up again so I'm just going to
go in rainbow order and put my color
down and I'm putting a generous swatch
because I don't want to have to redo
this so the the key to this the the
reason for this would just be so I could
bring some watercolor with me and not
have to bring my palette although quite
frankly I would just bring my palette
so really the okay I'm already out of
rainbow order accession went to pink for
some reason but okay so never mind that
we're not writing about water anymore
we're in random order I would just bring
my little watercolor palette but since
somebody asked me that's why I'm doing
this and you know it is kind of cool so
just go around and you fill in I just
got my little set of ten a little set of
twelve here you know maybe I'll get in
Bish's and do all of my colors but you
know this will be this will take long
enough for the video I don't want to
waste whole day watching me swatch out
colors um and if you do the colors dry
you don't get as much so that's why I'm
just dipping them and just kind of
scribbling until I run out of color I
could show it to you dry first just so
you could see see dry not so much I just
wet it for a quick millisecond here I
get much more color and um you know you
may be curious to try the peerless
they're not that expensive honestly um I
saw a pack of 40 small sheets and I
think they were like 22 bucks online or
something so you know shop around you
may find some good deals they're not
like a super duper expensive item but
it's kind of fun to see if you can
duplicate stuff with what you have at
home and you know called just you'd go
the other colors then you let that dry
and I do have some that's already dried
for the most part here and there you can
see other than just a little dab here
and there where I have used them they're
dry and as are the water color I think
the water color gives you a little bit
more vivid
color in you know what I'm going to show
you the markers - I'm going to show you
we're going to color and I'll show you
with all the different different types
that I have made here I get to set these
out of the way so I can get to my water
and you can use a water brush or
paintbrush whatever you like so this is
an image by los coast designs and I will
link to that in the video so first one I
try the markers um and you can wet your
paper first or not it's up to you I'm
using watercolor paper and I have
stamped it in archival ink and I'm just
going to pick up some of that light
green this is the water based marker
trial here which honestly didn't give me
the vivid colors that I wanted but still
it does help you control your colors if
you're someone that's had a hard time
controlling the colors and you can mix I
think maybe that's because I think when
you have the peerless you kind of whoa
some pink in there um when you're using
the peerless I think you end up using a
lot more colors kind of like when you're
using markers because you really don't
have the ability to mix on those little
bits of paper so that's why I think you
have more colors so there that's just
with the markers so it pretty much works
as if you scribble the marker out on a
tile and then I'll try the watercolor
I'm just going to let the pre what a
couple leaves here and my water color
swatches over here I'm just going to go
in a little bit of yellow the the water
color is nice and vivid one of the
little bit of green and if I was going
to put these in my in my scrapbook bag
my stamping bag I would definitely put
like a some wax paper around it or
something to keep me from you know keep
it from spilling into the other keeping
it from sticking to anything really I
mean that would be the big thing alright
and then if I'll try inktense again I
will just wet an area here and I will go
in with this I just had my little set of
12 there obviously I'd go with more
colors if I did this again but actually
that would be nice to think tubs because
then I wouldn't have to bring my whole
thing of inktense pencils around if I
just wanted to
wanted to do something quick like that
but I really think I like the intense
the best so I might be making a big
swatch of those out with the intense and
then for the flower itself um I really
prefer the red that I have here uh so
when I just wet this again take your
time at home I thought this was
interesting and interesting little
experiment I do like to uh I do like to
fulfill the request when somebody's
looking for an alternative product right
and look that's so easy I think I don't
want to introduce too much water on my
little yupo paper palette because then
it's gonna take a long time to dry again
and it took a while to dry to begin with
and spread it out a little bit with some
wet water yeah I kind of like this is
this kind of fun so there is how I
created something similar to peerless
watercolors with what I already had at
