what's going on guys now we've covered
what a good product looks like and what
a bad product looks like so we should
have an idea of what we're looking for
in a product so now we're gonna get into
the actual product research methods I
have three methods that I'm going to
show you the first just being the very
basic John let's go web app product
research so you guys can follow along
we're gonna check this out just look at
the numbers I'm gonna find a product
with good numbers but we're not gonna do
the patent checking or the trademark
checking or anything like that yet this
is solely based on numbers to get you
guys comfortable with looking for
looking at the numbers and understanding
what a good product actually is when
you're doing your research so we're just
gonna help me the computer here and
we're gonna go with the most basic
search method so we're just gonna plug
in the numbers here that I've already
shown you guys in one of my last videos
and we're it's gonna run a search and
see what we can come up with so you can
see I made sure that all my numbers have
criteria that I'm interested in looking
at so the price range estimated revenue
that I'm looking for reviews all its
have to where we wanted and the
categories that I decided to go with
they're all safe so we're just gonna
scroll down the list here and see what
we can find got some of these products
that stay away from I'm not looking for
anything too difficult as an example I
might go with a seasonal product here
just because it will make things easier
as far as numbers folks I know the
numbers won't be it won't have a lot of
reviews due to the fact that it's a
newer product but of course if you're
doing a seasonality check and you
weren't interested in getting the
seasonal product then this would not be
the way for you to go so I actually did
find this product a little bit earlier
and I think this would be an interesting
example for you guys so I see this
product here Beauty like Christmas trees
tablecloth premium artificial Christmas
time tree
so picking the keyword out of this I
think the keyword would just be a table
top Christmas tree
I know it's not exactly in here but I
think the had a feeling that is the
keyword here so what I would do is I
could check this in the product tracker
I can save that and refer to it later
I can save it here these averages don't
look so good
third day average price eleven dollars
the best also because it's a newer
product so I wouldn't rely solely on
this as you can see here it was like
they just got inventory like over the 60
days
okay so depending between for a little
while here you can see in the blue but
now their inventory starting to go down
so they are starting to make sales ever
since I guess around the end of October
so going into November they started to
make their sales so this would be an
interesting product to look at if we
were looking for seasonal products but
what I would do once I find this product
so I know that it met my criteria based
on the product database because of
course I put it in those numbers so if
it's gonna give me this result we know
it matches that result now what we're
gonna do is we're going to go to
amazon.com I'm gonna type in to what I
think the keyword would be so I said I
think it was tabletop Christmas tree and
there it comes up you can see on the
Amazon search bar so that probably is
the right term these ones at the top
don't look like it but it doesn't matter
these are sponsored products so we're
gonna scroll down a little bit and these
are similar to what we saw right does it
look like the Christmas tree smokers
with two feet 18 inch so all pretty
small ones that you can put on your
table
no what we're gonna do here is we're
just gonna use the jungle scale Chrome
extension so this little tool up here
click that and it's gonna populate all
the numbers so of course this is a
seasonal product so right now the
revenue is gonna be quite high because
we're coming up to Christmas we're about
just over a month away from Christmas
right now you can see right away price
point average price actually almost 50
dollars but all these first ones here
are pretty yeah actually all in a good
price range between 25 and about fifty
dollars so like I said in the previous
videos we're looking for something we're
looking for these numbers to match our
criteria which we'd like eight of the
first twelve listings so from one to
twelve we want at least eight of them to
match our criteria so let's just look at
this row by row so first of all I don't
recognize any huge brands here that I
think these are all just small brands if
there's anything big there it's I never
heard of them
so the Holman kitchen good category rank
can see all these ranks are pretty
pretty good and now let's look at sales
so sales are pretty consistent between
all of these none of them have super low
sales this one only has 45 but you can
see they're still doing over $1,000
revenue a little bit low what we like
revenue but not not a deal-breaker
because look at all these other sales
here these are like 2000 sales over
1,000 sales 500 sales
so definitely eight of these first 12
have consistent sales which is good now
looking over in the revenue column this
is crazy so this one has 70,000 dollars
in revenue you can see most of these
eight of the first twelve definitely
have over our goal say we were looking
to make of these thousand dollars a
month we'd probably want a product
selling around $3,000 a month just
estimating that we're gonna be on the
lower end of about a 30% profit margin
but you can see these like they're
killing it
8190 so a bunch of different I think
this one's a little bit different
products yes so this one's a ceramic so
we try to ignore the products they don't
actually match what we're looking for
but for the most part like these are all
pretty similar products and they're all
meeting what we'd like for revenue or
the majority of the first eight the
majority of the first listings or
matching our criteria so looking at
reviews like I said this is a seasonal
product so you're not gonna find
products like this too often but you can
see this one zero reviews and they're
doing over 5,000 and sales ten reviews
four thousand one review five thousand
in sales so majority of these have under
a hundred reviews which is definitely
possible to get in if you are planning
to do this product long term if this was
a long-term product seen as though it's
almost Christmas obviously you were to
get this product in on time but reviews
I mean you can't really beat this tree
you have one outlier here that's like
over 200 reviews but for the most part
you know all of these guys don't have
very many reviews so there's definitely
room for improvement
so let's move over to the next column as
far as rating goes I mean four and a
half is a pretty
high rating but there's possibility you
could still improve it I what I would do
in this case so that I'd look at the
comments is just seeing people say maybe
they don't like maybe like the branches
the little tree branches are falling off
and you could improve that by making a
higher quality something like that so I
just read through the comments on these
reviews and see what people say they
don't like about the product but I mean
four stars still high two and a half
stars and they're doing $22,000 in
revenue still so this one would
seriously be a product I would look at
if I was looking to go into this product
long term if this was not a Christmas
tree and it was a product that I could
use year-round so now that I've seen
that these numbers check out they look
good to me what I would do is I'd go
check the seasonality I'd go check
patterns and I go check trademarks not
just the most basic way of doing your
product research this is a good way to
help you practice even if you're not
looking for progress when you don't want
to use something from the product web
app because you think it might be too
saturated it's just a good way you can
practice and look at the numbers until
you feel comfortable enough to venture
off and do different product research
techniques that are a little bit more
creative and a little bit more advanced
so I'll go into the next video now where
I'm gonna be giving you guys some more
advanced techniques and techniques that
aren't as used so hopefully you guys
