Zcash CPU & GPU Mining Performance On Several Rigs Video Lecture | CPU Mining: Basics to Expert - Cryptocurrency

okay so I've just switched over we're
just gonna do some screen share in here
ah my first machine which is my home
computer that I use for various bits of
work and also a little bit of mining on
the side so this machine has a gtx 970
and a until by 7 950 but before we get
onto the actual hardware details in
actual mining the pool that I'm going to
be using for a launch is supernova so to
get started with that Paul you
specifically for mining C cash you want
to go to Z EC supernova dot C C and then
if you go to help and then getting
started this will basically provide all
the information that you need to get
started mining Z cash with this
particular pool so yes
supernova is going to be the pool that
I'm using during the actual launch of Z
cash and probably mine in for our I've
used supernova for quite some time for
mine and various of acquaintances and
it's always been a good reliable pool
and the other thing that these guys
they've also been kind of actively
involved in the actual creation of the -
4 z cache and also on other algorithms
as well so I kind of like that that the
guys are integrated into the mining and
the pool kind of operation it just gives
me a bit more confidence that these guys
know what they're what they're doing and
I haven't had an important so the pool
that I'm going to be using is supernova
with regards to the actual miner that
I'm going to be using I'm going to be
using the Windows version of this nice
hash CPU and GPU miner so I've done some
previous videos where the this
particular mine was kind of broken into
two separate pieces and now what they've
done is they've kind of a pulled
together a few different parts and
optimizations and have compiled it into
one useable miner and anything with this
miner is at the moment is hard-coded to
actually be used only with the supernova
Paul you can't change the port address
or anything like that so that's just
something to bear in mind so this is the
download for it the official download
and I'll also put a link in the
description where you can download it
and that will just have some extra batch
files and configuration files just to
help you guys get started
so that's that out of the way so once
you've downloaded it and extracted it
you will have a folder that looks a
little bit like this these are extra
files and if you download using the link
in description I'll add these in there
for you to help you get started so on
this machine like say it's got a gtx 970
and it's Windows 10 and to get the
actual cuda minor working i had to
update the drivers so i'm using free
seven 2.19 i don't normally use those
drivers i normally use the older drivers
three four seven eight eight and they
give the best performance when you're
mine in a fear IAM but in order to use
this cuda minor i'm had to update those
so that's just something to make you
aware of so if you do have a cuda device
specifically to any of the end video
devices what you need to do is something
a little bit different so if you run the
find cuda devices i'll just show you
what's in there so it's just got a cool
- a minor - CI a-- and then we've got a
pulse
and i'll just show you what that does so
if you run that like said it's on your
forehand video devices it just shows you
number of cuda devices on one it gives
you the number zero so that's the number
of the device and also it tells you what
the device is and that's basically all
the information that you need so now if
i go and open up your other batch file
which will be used for the actual mining
i'll just break it down for you bit by
bit so you've got the call to the miner
this is actually the mine and port but
we don't actually need that because it's
already a wired or coded into the actual
miner itself it's going to by default
connected a supernova pool so what we
have is our paul username then we have a
worker name password is x by default or
whatever it is for your actual worker
then this part we've got it set to its -
CD so that basically turns the cuda
devices on and then it tells you which
cuda device you will - so when i showed
you just a second ago with the KU
devices it is listed as device 0 so
that's what you want to add there if
you've got multiple code advices or like
a dual cards
kudi system then you put a do it are 0
and 1 so just put the number in there
then we've got this is for cpu cores and
I put it set to 6 cause so that's what
it's going to use there so just save
that and I'll just show you that running
now so now it's going to mine on the
NVIDIA GTX 970 and also the i7 950 so
I'll show you how that looks on this
machine so if it just scroll to the top
there
I'll put it down to give you a little
bit see a little bit more what's going
on so I've got the minor it says it's
using SSE - that's our Intel chip and
then you've got a minor threads so 0 to
6 sorry 0 to 5 is the actual CPU and
Fred 6 is our CUDA minor so you can see
it that's a hashaway there I will say
with the CUDA minor as well with Windows
10 because those later drivers you're
not getting the best performance at your
Nvidia cards so if you do have an Nvidia
card and you want to - it might be worth
taking the time to you use it with
Windows 7 and then those older drivers
you'll get better performance it's just
way there from Nvidia has restricted
data the actual compute use in the newer
drivers ok so let's go through there so
roughly we get in 25 Souls a second
almost was it 25 so yeah I'd say that's
an average of 25 when I tested
previously I was getting around 16 just
from the actual GPU and the CPU is
making up the other part that hash ring
I'll just show you very quickly if I
just do the CPU only also that scooter
on it let's do CPU only
and so here it's basically the same
configuration but we've just got Fred's
suffer just change that to six so this
time I'll just use the CPU only you can
see it starts off at the same on the top
so Fred's zero down to five Jen you
consider that the first sort hashes come
through in its 7.4 which is about what
it's getting before so that means that
our GPU miners get in between around
about eighteen solves a second something
like that okay I'll close that now and
then we'll move over to the next machine
so this is worker free this machine has
a 280x a7 950 and the CPU is a AMD a10
7700 K that's quite a cool CPU because
it has some CPU cores but it also has
some GPU cores as well six in fact so
it's quite a good multi-purpose CPU you
can use it in lots of different ways so
it's really good for multi purpose
mining and stuff so it's machine and we
use it for a fury of mining and burst
coin mining with a little bit of CPU
mining on the side okay so what I've
actually just found out is with this
nice hash in Q minor the one that I just
showed you on the previous machine it
only actually supports CPU mining and
CUDA mining at present it doesn't
support any AMD devices which is a
little bit inconvenient because it
wasn't obvious from the start and I was
actually planning on using it for most
of my devices which are actually AMD
devices but this miner only supports
CPUs and CUDA so that's something to
bear in mind so what I'm going to do is
I'm going to use this for CPU mining
this miner and the other minor I will
use these the miner that was created by
extremals
and they've just done a slight update as
well sort of support some other hardware
so I'm going to be using a combination
of both these miners so let's get
started so
what I'll do is I'll set it to use free
frets so let's get a CPU miner running
first and we can see how that performs
and in the other time we'll open up the
extremals miner as well so the
configuration I'm just going to leave it
by default
this goes at angle so the actual
extremals miner at the moment you can
only use it with the coins for all
because it only supports your address
payments you need to use a Z cache
address as your payment address you
can't use any login names or worker
names or anything like that for example
as you do with the CC miner
so with this miner not going to be able
to use it until we actually have a
working usable Z cache address so what
better to do that at the time of launch
basically so the moment can be testing
with it so I'm just going leave that as
it is was a default configuration let's
get it started up just so we can show
you the performance
so at the top we have the nice hash
minor of a fork of it using the CPU so
let's get in seven point seven seven
point five and eight so almost a soul's
a second and we'll just wait for the GPU
minor to update so you can see it's
detected free devices so that's actually
I'm not too sure what order it is so
it's the 280x that's seven nine fifty
and also the GPU cores that are built
into our CPU as well so we'll just see
how that performs later on today I'll be
looking at another GPU miner at the
moment it's only for AMD devices and
Linux installations but it was done by
silent army but I'll be checking that
later on this afternoon and hopefully if
there's a Windows version of it that
gets released I'll probably using that
at a time of launch and but this is kind
of what I'm going with just for the time
being we'll just let it do one more
update so I will have to do a little bit
more testing with these because I'm not
too sure how the CPU affects the GPU
mining it might be more efficient just
to leave this CPU miner off or use less
Fred's perhaps and but that will come
with the actual testing yes same sort of
results in previous testing I think it's
a little bit faster without the CPU
wanna running so I'll have to double
check come back to that do a little bit
more testing but anyway let's move on to
the next machine
okay so we're on to our next machine now
this machine has two sapphire rx4 70s
and they both have the modified bias
which helps increase the etherium mining
speed so this is what I'm getting with
these so I'm going to use the extremals
miner again and I've already started
that up just to get it running ahead it
takes a couple of minutes to kind of get
going so you can see for each one of the
actual GPUs we're getting 17.7 and 17.5
on the other one 17.3 and 18.3 so that's
a fairly good average there so that's
for the GPUs the actual CPU in this
machine is a Xeon and old on a 5450 from
memory so let's start up the actual CPU
mining and we'll see how that affects
things so this is the on process it has
four cores so I'll just run it on free
and what I want to see is if it affects
this GPU mining client so let's run that
and we'll see what happens
so you can see the CPU miners just got
died and that's on free fritz
okay so we've got the first sort of a
readout its 2.25 so as a second which is
really slow actually it is an old CPU
but it might be probably not worth maybe
using it at all
probably just burning up electricity
without really providing real results
for comparison on previous machine we
was getting free Souls the second just
on a single core so it is quite a bit
slower than the previous machine but
really what I wanted to check was how
the CPU miner kind of effects the GPU
mana and by looks of it it doesn't
appear to be affecting it too much I'll
just let it do another update and we'll
see how that looks
okay so we've had a couple more readout
see it looks like it might be affecting
a little bit but not too much like I say
I think on this particular machine as
with the others um obviously a great
more deal with testing is required to
kind of get it up and tweak to a more of
an optimized situation but I think in
this case I'll probably won't run the
CPU miner just because it is quite slow
and it does appear to having a slight
effect on the GPU miner as well so our
probably on this machine I probably
won't run their CPU mana but anyway
let's move on to the next machine and
we'll see how it performs
okay so we're on to our next machine now
this year one is called the el cheapo
which is the one that has the four r7
370 s in there and it's also combined
with a Celeron processor I think it's a
18 G 1840 Celeron I'm not expecting
great results from the actual CPU itself
but let's get started with the GPU minor
so as before GPU mana is extremals we're
just going to leave the configuration as
it is just ready for testing purposes so
let's start up the GPU mana on r4 r7 370
s and see what results these producers
might take a little while to get going
because it's got creative bin file for
each one of the GPUs that appears to be
going normal we've connected to the pool
okay so we've just had our first update
and we're getting around six six and a
half solutions a second for each of the
GPUs I'll just give it a little bit more
time so we can kind of get a better
average
okay so we've had a few updates now and
it's looking like again around six point
three and there abouts or each of the
actual GPUs that one is running a little
bit faster currently give a good reason
for that and but yeah six point three
six point five maybe so what I do is
I'll just minimize X because the screen
resolution let's try the actual CPU
whiner
it's the Celeron processor so it only
has two cause I'll just run this on one
of the cores not really expecting
anything spectacular but we'll take a
look and just see how it performs
okay 1.6 that's actually better than I
expected
certainly better than our xeon processor
in the other machine on a call by call
basis and what i want to check is just
whether it affects the speed of the GPU
minor so currently on 13 let it have one
more update ok guys i think we'll leave
it there for this one i've been waiting
for quite a while I'm just not getting
an update so I don't know if that's
because shares not been accepted or the
minor has crashed I'm not too sure but
I'm not really prepared to wait any
longer so when a closes down and wrap
this up ok so that's just about it for

my rigs up with you guys
the miners that under musing and how we
using them on which poles and the
performance aren't getting on each one
of those systems so hopefully you can
use this information within your own
sort of mining setups and it's a good
useful information for you guys so a
