PostgreSQL in this tutorial I am going
to tell you about the limit and the
offset operators so basically these two
operators are used to limit or the data
that we want to see or limit the amount
of there is already going to fetch from
our database for example if you would
consider apps like Facebook and
Instagram these operators are of very
high value in these kinds of social
networking apps because you need to load
only certain values to show first of all
you cannot do it each and every value or
each and every or you know a field
regarding the user so you have to limit
your data to like if you want to load
first and records first and then if I
use close down then you will load
another ten record then it keeps on
repeating itself
so this is the use of the limit operator
so I'm going to tell you how to
implement it so first of all I am going
to show you three calls that is select
star from our table company so you would
see that we have around nine record here
so now suppose I want to limit it to
four records now I want only four
records first so I just limit I just add
this limit for so it will display only
the first four records to me or it will
limit that across to the four so you
would see that I will get only one two
three four here so you can see that I
get only one two three four so this is
the use of limit operator in PostgreSQL
so supposedly now a user Scrolls down
I need four more results now so for this
case I will use the offset operator
offset operator basically what it does
is that it keeps the amount of number
you give it like if I give an offset of
food it will skip the first four records
and then it will show the later four
records so this is the use of offset
offset like suppose I started my app and
I saw those four results now I'm
scrolling down so when I scroll down I
need to view more results so for more
results I need to get an give an offset
so suppose I have viewed the first four
records and now I scroll down
and I give an offset of four that I want
four more records when I scroll down
then you would see then I get records
four to eight that is the records have
been changed now so you could see that
the first query gives us records of the
first four and if I add an offset now I
will get the next four so this is the
use of offset now suppose I give it
eight you would see that we have nine
records I will get only one record left
so this is the user offset so thank you
