PostgreSQL in the store ever tell you
about aliases in PostgreSQL so first of
all what do we mean by an alias is an
alternative name so why do we need an
alternate alternative name is that
suppose I have a table name that has a
very big name suppose as department so I
need to write department everywhere in
my joint condition and to select
something to do anything I need to again
the name department department
department so PostgreSQL it gives us an
option to define the department table
once as an alias so that we can use that
alias again and again to you know refer
that dot table
so with referring our table I mean is
that we give a table or a column another
temporary name or which is called as an
areas so you need to remember that this
isn't temporary name it does not change
in the database but it is a temporary
name not a permanent name so I will give
you an example of this so that you could
you know relate to it in a better way so
for example I'll just show you
aha in the inner join query you could
have used aliases by this so for example
if I do select the name edge from
Company C department D so here C and D
are my aliases so whenever I need to
refer to company now I will use C just
you see and whenever I need to refer to
Department now I will just use D where C
dot ID equal to B dot ready so that's it
now whenever I need to use company I
just you see whenever I need to use
department I use T just to and you see I
get my result so here you can see if I
do C dot name and C dot H that means I
am referring to the name of the company
table and if I do C dot H I'm referring
to the age inside the company table so I
get the same result so that's what that
