let us now go for a very important topic
called blevells in autocad we refer to
the levels as layers and over here in
MicroStation we call them levels a level
can be thought of as a transparent sheet
which is basically used to help us
organize our drawings particular drawing
a huge civil project or a huge
mechanical component can be made up of a
number of layers or levels which are
overlapped one over the another using
the various options provided for levels
we can organize our drawing more better
to be clearly and vividly explainable
okay so now let me first create a couple
of objects over here let us create a
rectangle
all right in this video we have made a
few rectangles and if you circus as well
okay
right so now I can select over here
whenever you want to convert a
particular object in to a particular
level firstly let us see how to get the
level dialog box you need to go to this
option called settings select settings
click on a level and click on the
manager option in the settings popup
menu point to the level option and click
on manager this brings up the level
manager dialog box wherein by default
you have these many number of levels
created there's all of these layers
which you can use or else if you want
you can even create your own layers or
levels click on this option new level
and over here I am going to specify
rectangles as the name of the level and
similarly one more level for circles and
one more for lines
I can choose various types of colors for
various levels for rectangles I am
choosing the red color for circles I'm
choosing say this color cyan and I'm
selecting this color as yellow so the
lines you can even change that is the
attributes related to a particular
drawing namely the color the style and
the weight can also be altered here
itself in the level manager for all the
lines I want to have the style as this
style number 4 similarly for all the
circles I want to have line weight as
number 5 and 4 rectangles I want to just
change the color to red
okay in this way you have a few already
created levels and three levels created
by us you can close this for now and now
I want to convert all the rectangles
into the rectangles layer select the
rectangles first hold on your ctrl key
on the keyboard select all the
rectangles after which you can get or
you can apply that particular rectangles
layer by clicking over here in the
attributes toolbar you can select the
rectangles layer by default in the
attribute layers and sorry in the
attribute toolbar you will be having
only the default level and the other
levels which are created and pre-loaded
the circles lines and rectangles will
only appear after you have created them
using the level manager okay so now I
want to apply it to the rectangles click
on rectangles and click over here now I
will select the circles all of them
select the circles
in this way and I'm again going to apply
the circles layer for the circles again
you will notice that all these objects
even after applying the level their
respective levels they're not changing
their property so they're not changing
their attributes this usually is because
whenever you're selecting these objects
the colouring of these objects has been
made to zero whereas always you should
create those objects by setting it to by
level option that is how you will be
getting that particular color select all
of them and convert it into by level now
left-click over here now you can see the
rectangles have been converted into red
color the circles into the C on color
now similarly you can even go for the
lines hold down the shift key select
each of these lines and then go over
here and select the lines option click
over here and you can see the lines have
been changed to a particular color as
well as a line type in this way like
this convert into lines all right now so
now onwards whenever you are trying to
create a rectangle you can directly
choose the rectangles level and after
having selected the rectangles level you
can draw a rectangle suppose I want to
create a circle I will choose my circles
level and I'm going to draw the circles
level in this one so it's the circles in
this room
similarly for lines
that is how you will be using the lines
option I'm sorry the levels option over
here now apart from this convenient
option of specifying a group of
attributes to a particular set of
elements that is these attributes are
specific to the rectangles level the
attributes are specific to the circles
level
apart from this convenience these levels
also provide us with another great
advantage and that is you can actually
turn them on or off as well as block
them or unlock them
now right now let me come back to my
default level all right and suppose I do
not want to see all the rectangles in my
drawing I'll select the rectangles layer
sorry level and I'm going to click on
this option when I click on this it will
turn it off now you won't be able to see
any of the rectangles similarly if I do
not want to see the circles as well
again I will go over here select the
circles option and over here I will
uncheck this tick and now you won't be
able to see any of those circles as well
okay that is one can means again if you
want to turn it on you can click over
here you can click over here that is how
you will be turning it on or off
the next option over here is to lock it
suppose you lock a circles level now
left-click over here and now when you
are trying to modify this circle it
won't get modified unless and until you
unlock it from here
in order to prevent the modifications of
the drawings you can lock them after
having created suppose I do not want the
rectangles to be modified as well so I
will click on the lock option in the
rectangles level which will modify that
particular level sorry which will lock
that particular level now you
be able to modify it that is how you
will be locking it again to unlock you
can directly click on the clock option
and click on this option now if you
select the circle it will show you can
even modify it as per your desire okay
in the same way you can even go for
other objects as well say I want to draw
the circle sorry the arcs as a
particular level that is I want to
associate these arcs to the level called
G fire when you click on this and click
over here these arcs have been converted
into the GE file level okay the level
manager you can even get it from
settings option and clicking on level
and level manager or directly you can
just click over here this shows us the
default level which is currently
selected you can double click over here
or single click and you can modify
whatever you want to modify over here
you can actually delete a rectangles
layer so right click and go with the
delete option now I will go ahead and
after having these rectangles there
sorry rectangles level I'll have to
update it click on this option select
the rectangles select the circles
and go with the deletion of the layer
soil level similarly I am going to
delete the lines as well
let me select this okay
now the lines level has been deleted
algorithm sorry if the tongue get
deleted let me just check it once again
lines level is present or here
knowing the lines over here after which
else over here loyal manager and I do
not want to you sorry first you need to
delete all the objects from that level
only then it will get deleted that is
all the lines which you have over here
you need to select them you need to
delete them all right in this way you
have deleted all the lines and now I
will go over here and it's not used
right now you can right-click over here
and go with the delete option the lines
level has been deleted similarly you can
even go with the circles layer sorry
level and you can believe the circles
level as well provided it does not being
currently used in the drawing you can
see this used symbol over here you need
to delete all the objects from that
particular level or you can even convert
them into a different levels I am
selecting all the circles over here and
after selecting all the circles I will
be converting them into another layer
say let me choose this or this level
left Lea all of them have mean convert
or even this one converted to this now
take up this and the circles level is no
longer being used right click over here
just a second is not okay right right
click and go with the delete button the
circles level has been deleted as well
you can see the circles level is not
Leicester down any longer those objects
have been converted into a different
level this is about the levels which are
used in micro section I'll stop the
