Simple platformer part 5 Video Lecture | Construct Tutorial: Become a Game Maker - Game Development

hey buddy for a new start and today
we're gonna do our continuation on
simple platformer that's how we're going
to do a simple AI enemy my my definition
of that is basically you get near hated
hex you or you know you trigger an event
and then he attacks you as you can see
we have our enemy and he's a little bit
his little blue blob it was in the set

little purple dots now I these are
actually going to be invisible when you
enter the game or when you officially
done but when you need to see collision
boxes and these are just detectors

enemy but like I'm Mario when he
actually lands on top of the enemy it
kills it or knocks it out whatever but
what if he lands in front of it boom he
loses a heart
now we're gonna be dealing with the CUH
basically the simple collision and then
the basically you know you you hit the
enemy on the wrong side boom you get a
basically you lose a heart now the
hearts you can't see but they're
basically hit right here and put that
down to zero so you have these hearts
and that's a full heart you then have a
half heart right there and then you have
an O heart but it's kind of hard to see
let's see if we can there we go oh no
heart this just to clarify this is gonna
be health part one because I'm gonna be
taking some things in stride we're gonna
be okay basically today we're gonna be
covering knocking out the enemy killing
him and then him hurting us and that's
and I deal with part one of the health
system our two of the health system is
also going to deal with part two is the
enemy AI which is going to deal with
basically a wasp that's going to fly
around and then detect you and then
attack you and
and when she attacks you you'll have no
health and boom you'll die
we're going to be dealing with adding
health and as a third health tutorial so

so basically what's happening is and

sprite is in the game and then basically

want to name name these guys little
purple dots okay
so pin 1 and pin 2 are uncreated they
are pinned to sprite 23 sprite 23 is the
poo enemy and they are basically I chose
sprite 23 our enemy 1 or whatever - you
know attach these collision boxes to the
detect the detectors and then I chose
position and angle somewhere and however
and whenever the guy moves the boxes
will stay on them and keep the angle and
then I have them with 4 pin and 1 and
pin 2 and then the character
so basically when the dog is collision
with pin 1 destroy the enemy and then
destroy both coalition boxes and then
the sprite spawns a cookie on layer 0
and layer 0 is basically where all the
objects that don't move with the
character such as you're basically
counter and your cookie and your heart
items I'm actually
and what actually will just get to those
in one moment so on collision with
sprite 2 and sprite 2 is if I'm right
it's that's 5 sprite - here we go
sprite 2 is a just a piece of ground I
decided to do in a simple AI so
basically it's base if you're on his
Island he's going to attack you so on
collision with to accelerate the and I'm
using a custom movement so we're gonna
click on the enemy no I don't want that
sometimes me when I'm recording it kind
of except so we hit the behavior so we
have custom movement pen and turret I
don't think you need turret I just have
that in there for something else so
basically all you needs to custom
movement and like solid yeah this pin in
custom movement so on collision with
sprite - a piece ground some distance
away from the enemy but it's so pretty
close the enemy will accelerate at 2,000
sprite dots toward the sprite sprite at
11 is the dog so whatever you know he
goes that enemies gonna go and then on
stand now we're gonna do the help so
okay on start of layouts add 2 to the
health now I meant and actually let's go
down real quick add 2 to health means
and I meant global variable so you're
gonna have to click right at the global
variable and here's global variable
health
if health equals to is then make sure a
heart is set to the path city of 100 now
right here and I'll right there but
right here our hearts okay they're just
set up a city - that's wrong one there's
one and we're going to set that to 100
and so we have that we have that right
there
so I to set these two being visible and
I also set them to be able to move with
the character so even though you can't
see them they're always there so on
start of the game he has house of two so
health of two and we're now comparing
variables choose to a variable compare
so if his health is equal to two then
set the opacity of a full heart to 100
on collision with pen - and that's the
front end of the enemy in which you know
when enemy is attacking you subtract one
from health destroy pin to enemy only
has one good attack and then you know he
he's up for you to kill basically
there's his fodder for the cannon
so when health equals one then you want
sprite the half-heart sprite it's just
set to be a hundred and then you want
the whole heart sprite to be zero so
what does this look like so we're going
to go to layout five run layout
and so walking around we're clicking
cookie doing our own business when boom
okay now yeah we kill them I need to
reload the page okay now we move move
move ah he's coming toward us
oh now we can kill we only got half
heart now and I mean now we need to be
careful make sure there's no other
enemies nearby keep moving
oh we got doggie bone and we got a gold
medal now it's it says lock because I
basically just loaded in that level so
just just ignore the lock thing normally
you would just I have to find another
recording program it's kind of messing
up so I haven't enabled all the health
system because you would need to enable
health on every single level and that's
why do you usually enable health on like
the first layer it's not it's setting
not to work probably because I'm
recording ap sorry guys I've moved to a
new my laptop died you usually record
this stuff on is not working and so I've
had to okay here we go now this will
work I've had to move to another I've
moved to another computer but that's
kind of off but it should work for our
purposes yeah it's gonna work so here's
one
and now we're just moving moving moving
boom good to go
unlocked next level and collect that
cookie and maybes moving toward us what
do we do well we can click the cookie no
I haven't enabled health on this like I
said usually you will enable health on
the first level and then you will have
health on the rest when you copy that
levels code so what do we do we have
this guy boom he's dead again most of
the heirs are going to be related to the
fact that you need to fix how he you
know collides with the enemy so you know
he's not hitting your destroy enemy box
he's only hitting your get hurt enemy
box so there we go we have three levels
I don't know if I'm gonna do another
level I mean I mean I may do another
level that's of course I'm gonna do
another level with the where the enemy
gets where has more enemies and then you
have to wasp an enemy and then basically
after that you will if you pass through
that level you you basically win the
game so just you know probably one or
two more tutorials out of the series and
then we're going to be moving to another
tutorial series which I've actually had
