Sub Swimmer part 3 Construct 4 Video Lecture | Construct Tutorial: Become a Game Maker - Game Development

anybody this is when you start and today
we're here with the finishing video
woefully the finishing they do I may add
more on to this later but right now this
is gonna be basically us avoiding rocks
collecting coins and unlocking ships so
I did it part of this and you already
saw that in the previous video but that
was super hard so you may not have
gotten everything also put the download
link so you guys could download it and
play with it and this is gonna be me
kind of going over everything again and
then uploading it so you guys could
download it but I'm also going to
include a little assistance where you
could buy ships and I may do not
promising but I may do if we have time
power ups and all that stuff so right
now we have a coin collecting system so
we can collect a ship I'm going to
choose the green one we're gonna hit
play and we can go up and down which is
different from the other ones so this
one we can actually evade stuff well we
can't move left and right I may add on
may add that later but I kind of want to
keep us the system now if we hit M we
know we are in the this is the basically
the underwater submarine place where you
can buy your and we know we have
five gold coins so it's gonna take us a
little while so you have to keep playing
and all that stuff to get it the next
ship so we're actually gonna do I'm
sorry

cuz I've actually set up an account

all right so we're gonna actually do
some new stuff and we're gonna you're
gonna see how I actually do some
layering I didn't want to do everything
so we're gonna go to layers so I'm gonna
go and put on rockin it's gonna be a
pretty big rock so you do have to kind
of avoid it put that there we're gonna
put that right around it now this plant
has a rap and a custom movement that's
what we're gonna do here we're going to
go to behaviors and we're going to do a
rap and then what we're going to do is
we're also going to you some custom
movement and then we're going to go to
the code and we're actually going to set
it to be there let's see what find that
rock there we go and then we want I
think that set speed horizontal I 100
done now what we're gonna do is we're
also gonna set a health factor so we're
gonna go click write add a global
variable
this is gonna be health now I could call
it how a Hall done that's going to do
health we're gonna miss you value it's a
hundred so alright so I'm going to
actually create another text insert a
new object it's gonna be text trying to
play several right there that's gonna be
text for so what we're gonna do is on
start of layout text for set text
to health

okay and then what we want to do is if
our ship is on collision or is colliding
with a rock on overlapping exclusion
with another object choose what other
object rock we're gonna do is we're
gonna subtract something from health
subtract from health we're to say 20
percent done now we could also do set a
random value between 1 and 20 so you
could have 5% hit or something like that
but it's a new 20 and the neuron would
do some random variables keep it simple
then move on okay and what we can do
boom that no I'll charts a text the
house should actually cover everything
we're gonna make sure your screen one
play so we all have a health of 100 I'm
gonna be I'm actually gonna hit this on
purpose
boom 80 now what we're going to do is
now that we know that works we're gonna
set it okay if we keep hitting this rock
now I'm actually going to clone this
rock so I can just be
now we're gonna change this because not
a different sprite code we're going to
make this that one okay that works

so on collision with spray 24 now we
have to actually clone this again and do
sprite 24 and we're gonna say sit speed
- a hundred we're gonna also do let's
see ah inclusion looks like 23 and now
we're just gonna change that to 24 but
on this one we're gonna say
50 done okay on this one we're gonna say
hey our health it's below certain amount
compare a variable
his health is less than 50 done the
sprite for our ship our green plane in
this case our green sub is going to
change so let's just make sure it is one
yep that's it the one let's see if that
lets just make sure that that works
we won down I'm gonna purposely crash
into these rocks now we could also set a
shake I think we didn't do that pretty
easily
it's if it seems like I'm trying to rush

tutorials going over 30 minutes 20-ish
minutes it's like okay there we go
now what we're trying to do is fix it so
we're gonna add in a new sprite and
we're going to say actually what we
could do I'm gonna delete that I'm gonna
leave this just sprite 15 now clone one
of these coins sprite 26 right there
okay we're going to change that sprite
to be a texture a particle vibe
power up Rashi's icon laughs okay so
what we're going to do sort of particles
and it's a revived
do a revive let's do that
and we free collide with that event she
we're gonna have to add the heart there
and um okay we're gonna clone that and
then set a heart for that so that will
add health to worship speed - 100 okay
on that so on collision with a heart oh
replace it with the actual link wrench
or something like that later we're going
to actually add back add to health 50 so
text okay no we're going to copy that
and say if it is greater than 50 write
us at the animation to 0 so ello look
fixed so we're gonna run the layout
we're gonna choose the green ship ready
to play now when we hit play all those
icons are actually just going to
disappear so boom our ship got hit boom
we're at 30%

the hangar so you'll be actually with

and what we'll do is we'll set some
rocks hopefully you guys won't crash
into the rocks
all right so we have some decoration
going on here we're gonna copy paste it
one more time I'm gonna sit this behind
to the bottom hide those sorry actually
supposed to get to there and once we get
to here so on collision of this it's
gonna be the end game we're gonna head
back to the menu so we're gonna go to
vinci 1 and we're gonna say hey when our
ship collides with the bay game over
we've won so on collision with another
object oh we could say so that we could
fly it more into it or Lose a into it
more
it's an overlap thing another object
sprite 22 done we're going to add some
cash let's see attitude we're gonna add
a hundred to money cuz you know job well
done then what we're going to do is
we're going to go to layout and we're
gonna go to the medium
so we run the layout
ready to choose our green chip we're
gonna hit play so we're still learning
this game we hit that one we're down to
80% and then this is a bigger guy we
collide into it right 30% I want to get
this coin then we'll we're also gonna do
is we're gonna say hey because we hit
some stuff our quickness of controls
gets slowed down so you're gonna have to
act fast sure you know may not be that
great so we got 13 14 coins we're going
up
actually I could really I have to call
it another rock
twenty-eight now that's great
twenty-eight it's going to be the hangar
okay now I have to change that over here

sprite 28 looks like the rest of the
items I have to call that and take
sprite 2802 B so we set speed but at
this line it should work green chip
well add some more rocks and
hundred-fifty you know what we're gonna
do is we're gonna add a cap on the house
we can't get more than 100 and so it
just caps out at honored boom done

so on mouse click on clicks object what
are we gonna click we're gonna click Add
shop that's mission so let's go to shop
so on Kwik shop we're gonna go to sit
layout and clone it and just create the
other one shop we're gonna go to shop
done that one and go to missions
shop yeah nothing there we do have to
create the back button but we're going
to go to the game okay we're gonna play
this and we click missions we're going
to go to the this hit play
and there we go we go to shop there we
go it says 115 now it works
okay guys I'm an indie here and quickly
do the other bit will we finalize it
upgrade it and then update it or put it
on Newgrounds for you guys to play also
