Spice up an image using the Brush tool in Pixlr Video Lecture | Pixlr Tutorial: Master Image Editing - Professional Skills

welcome to another pixelart tutorial and
this tutorial I'm going to look at how
to make an image real interesting just
using the brush tool and this is the
image that I'm going to produce and I've
used the brush tool different brushes
shapes to produce that picture so while
I started with was picture of Garfield
which needs to be made transparent and a
picture of the desert at night and put
those together and added some brush
strokes to create a more interesting
picture so let's get started this all
need to
make Garfield transparent actually go
back to their and duplicate that layer
first and now make Garfield transparent
so using the one tool
and holding the shift just to get that
extra bit
edit invert selection and copy you can
use shortcut keys I just prefer to use
the menus with the mouse copy that and
back into this one and paste it so I'll
select the edit paste and then use the
Move tool just to positioning in the
middle
and call that Garfield so the only
things I'm going to use our different
brushes to spice up make this image a
bit more interesting so in the brush
tool you get your standard brushes but
you also get under the more I've up
types of brush it's I've created some
from vector stalks I've taken all of
these and added them and I've taken some
of the brushes from the nature so some
from the grasslands and the galaxy and
from miscellaneous some of the doodles
so I'm going to use the fish and every
time you add them i can add that series
and now i'm getting a fairly large set
of brushes now i only want to do a few
use a few brushes from each of these
sets so what I've done is select all the
brushes that I needed so for example in
the doodles here I don't need the rest
of my baby the butterfly I don't need
the rest so I'm going to remove them all
selecting other remove
button to remove all the ones I don't
want then there was only a few on in
here that I needed so i removed whatever
I didn't need I deleted all of the
default brushes
keeping on pressing remove brush till
they're all gone and what I ended up
with as a set of brushes that I'm going
to use just for this image and then I
save those so you can save brushes and
then you can reload them later so
instead of every time I want to change
an image I have to go through the same
process and add all the different brush
palettes pick the ones I want use them
and then next time I up and fix that
they're gone because it always happens
with the default set save them and then
you can load them back in so i'll show
you how i do that so I'm going to reset
because I do want some of these
questions as well and then I'm going to
load my set of brushes that are saved
before the desktop and i'll just say
from this garfield in desert brushes
open and they're the only ones i'm going
to use out of the four or five different
palettes so let's get started with
changing this image or to put some grass
among the bottom there and this one is a
set of grass and make it a yellow color
and place it where the line is is where
I place the actual cursor make sure
you've selected the right layer
background copy
and it's overlap some of it to make it a
bit thicker
and I've got some grass in the
foreground
now some of these so this one looks like
that I could make it a bit bigger if I
wanted to make them bigger ah stalks
these come from a vector stalk so I'm
smoking a bit similar
change the colors on a green and I want
them sort of all around the sides here
but you can use scatter and if I hold my
left put it about here and hold the left
mouse button down is I'm dragging it
will actually place them
for me
either sort of random pattern except I
don't want those ones there
so start again
don't want to go over there
and do it the other side as well holding
the scatter holding the mouse button
down as I do this arranged as them then
I can remove that and just take it back
to hard tip
so what else have we got wanted to put
some different color ones in with
perhaps these like the move it bigger so
they're bigger than these change the
color to a lighter color and place some
of those in amongst the other ones
and you can change the opacity of some
stuff I didn't want some so light bright
i could make them a bit painter
start down there
put in a flower so this one's a flower
or this one
a third color
it might be a purple
let's put a few thousand
you
count the color again pink
it make their pacity a little bit higher
if you can't see that and do that one
and you can keep going until you're
happy with what we've done
well let's just have a look at that sky
here so at the top I've got some a
planet and like that let's say it
virtually the same color as its
background so we'll change the color and
de sues this one to sample it so maybe
that blue and put it about here put a
planet
some starts
if you're smarter methanol bigger
the peak
and put a few stars up there and Cassidy
like them a bit far lighter
if I don't like it afterwards up just
rub it out times the brush
what the app
you

a black hole so I'm going to want that
one blue that color

some grass so back to the bottom so
around Garfield put in some grass
so he's not sort of side on his own
grass here
change the opacity
which changes that
what else have I got a fish has been
eating fish so I put that make it a bit
bigger if you put a small on here first
since the color

look a bit bigger on there
butterfly
to my weight
you
an alien spaceship
so getting to sample a color for that
one something where is color clout great
opal you about yeah
too bright so it's just adjust the
opacity
it's a bit further
you
you could add more you can play around
with the size and there's a know an
awful lot of different brushes amongst
this so will you do is go to the
particular category and you have to add
them all in you can't just pick one or
two of them go to add them into the to
the palette then you can start removing
them and then save your set of brushes
so that's how you spice up an image what
I'll do now is save it
rename it laughing didn't it is it at
night
save it as a JPG
so that what it looks like so that's the
finished future let's just make that
full screen
we've gone from our two separate images
to producing that only using brushes so
