hi guys this is Fernando we received a
lot of questions about metals material
so we decided to create a video tutorial
showing you how to create stainless
steels how to create copper and how to
create brush material so this is what I
have please fear there in the studio
setup and I want to create a material
for toes sphere for now I'm going to
create a region render just to render
that sphere so likes minimize tab I want
to create a metal material from scratch
just create a standard material in this
new wheel we just change the name to
stander the diffuse layer the color is
define the color of the metals but I'm
going to show you something very quick
let me create a copper first so select
any kind of material closer to copper
you can change the material later but
the main idea is just select the base
color in the diffuse layer and just
create a reflection material to add the
reflection to that reflection layer to
add the reflection to that material in
the reflections we are going to use a
Finals effect and the iron value for the
finale is the options that define the
amount of reflections mental starting in
6 something like that but for a very
reflective material or metals we want to
use something between 10 and 20 in this
case I'm going to use 16 the Paranoid
color is black so we don't need to to
change a fraction higher value because
anyway you are going to you are not
going to see any effect at all because
the color is black if you change this
color to something gray then the the
fraction are your value is taking Perata
of the render now just change the IR
value okay and let's click preview to
see what we have on just make a render
with this material and then I'm going to
explain how
improve the quality of this particular
material so let me click here and I
should want to apply the material that
we just created right now the next step
is to create a render you're going to
see kind of coloration in the material
but seem to be like a chrome like a
copper chrome now later the actual
material that we want so let's wait a
little bit for the render so here you go
you can see the actual color in the
perpendicular area but in the parallel
area when I see like a metallic like
chrome material in order to fix that we
are going to use an options in the
material called the filter this option
here define the color or the reflections
so don't worry about my color just set
the your desired color to get the copper
material because copper have a different
variation in color so as you know notice
right now my reflections the color is
getting this as color that we have in
the filter so the filter is to paint
different fractions and also I want to
reduce a glossiness to add a small
closeness a small blurry amount on the
material and lets me increase the
subdivision for top glossiness to 22 in
order to avoid the noise and the
material so I'm going to create an old
render to see our result and our
material should be close to copper
material again the diffuse color is the
base color of the material and the
filter color affect the reflections so
now you can see our copper material is
very nice you could use this copper
material for lamps for any any object
that need to be a copper it's very easy
and very quick to create
by the way I'm using a CRI on the
environment just to get some reflection
here okay the next material that I want
to create is just regular stainless
steel I want to try click on the scene
material and create a standard material
let's create a material by
right-clicking them under material and
then click rename and we can say it stai
stainless steel okay for this material
the base color should be closer to black
so let's set the color to 10 very close
to black and again as we did in the in
the copper metier we have to we need a
reflection layer in this reflection
layer we are going to add a phenols
effect for this stainless steel material
I want to use 20 that's it
just 20 and this is going to be my
stylist steel material you can see here
the base color is white so the
reflection is going to be very perfect
almost like a mirror but because we have
a frontal effects we are going to have a
variation depending of the perpendicular
a depending on level of the point of
view of the camera
okay let's apply that material to our
object so stainless steel apply the
material I just want to create another
vegan vendor just to see the difference
between copper and stainless steel again
a very easy material just reflections
layer training in the iron value and the
color almost are the diffuse color
almost black if you want to add some
blurriness on the materia then I
recommend you to reduce the gluttonous
value something 2.95 and also if you
increase the gluttonous value I like to
use 22 in the subdivision if I have this
small amount of glossiness of blurriness
I like to use 22 if I reduce the gloves
a little bit more then you chill use
like 32 or 40 but for now it's okay and
I make an old render you know see
especially in the highlight here in the
reflections how you're going to have a
blurry reflection just small amount of
glory this is the same thing if you want
to change the color of this stainless
steel just go to the material and the
filter you can add a little bit amount
of bluish color just to tint a little
bit a little bit of reflections to
blueish and then you can do another
render just with these changes so let me
create an or render just with the half
of the of the crown sphere or Stella
steel sphere just to see the difference
between the bluish color in the
reflections and the white color on the
reflectors so again the filter color is
the option that keeps you the color of
the material and this is very useful to
create even gold material if you want to
go might either just change the color to
some jello which color the filter to
some jell-o jell-o which a color okay
our next material is gonna be the brush
and for this brush material I want to
duplicate the stainless steel interior
we have the new fixtures here in this
bill that is a initiator time that is
war
so I'm going to change the shaded time
to war and I want to use on an
anisotropic effect this anisotropic
effect basically stretch the reflections
in one direction so if you use negative
value point nine the the fringe of the
power is between zero one if you use
negative value you are going to stretch
the the surface I'm stretch the
reflection vertically if you use
positive values you are going to stretch
different fractions or examply so I want
to use a point nine in the options that
control the area that should have
reflections is the perpendicular color
so I want to use a brush material a
bitmap or a brushed texture in that
particular options in that in the
fractions here this brush to create the
effect of a brush material so again in
the perpendicular color this guy here
control the reflection where you have or
where you don't have reflections so if
you use a mapping between a wood color
between white and black you are going to
define the areas that you are going to
have reflections and this is what I want
just telling which way I want reflection
in this area and I don't want reflection
in this area and you're going to see the
brush effect but again I want to
increase the reflections in the parallel
area so I'm going to use like 30 or 40
in the black color in the parallel area
and now I want to increase also the
refraction higher value to 20 in this
way I'm going to achieve more
reflections in the parallel area so also
to improve the effect of the brush
material I'm going to add a bump map
just to pop off the the brush so I'm
going to use a bitmap and I'm going to
use a slightly the same texture that I
use for my finals effect and in this way
depending of the scale of your model you
can reduce or increase the depth of the
bottom up in this case I'm going to use
point one and that is the next step is
just apply the material to the object
and just change or play with the with
the UV mapping in order to create a you
in my opinion show that in all of the
video I want to create another diffuse
layer and use the texture mapping or the
texture here just to see the texture in
my view port but I want to add
transparency to that layer so I'm going
to use an a color to white in this case
I'm making the this layer transparency
the layer with the texture because I
just want to see the texture in a
viewport or control the UV mapping by by
doing that and put in transparency in
the transparency lot slot I'm going to
see the textures in the viewport but
this texture is not going to be part of
the render okay I will not play a little
bit I want to play too much with the
human mapping I just want to enable this
plane right apply the material to the
plane and just grab put this text relax
projected texture and then steal the UV
mapping of that particular texture and
apply the same you a map in here
so that's it so I don't want to pay too
much with the domain mapping okay that's
it the next step is just the final wrap
this material with war and with initial
tropics you're going to take a little
bit more a little bit longer to render
so be careful with that material if you
have object very far away from the
camera just apply a regular material
then use or don't use word because the
word up slow down the render but here
guys you can see the brush metals it's
very nice it's a little a little bit
noisy but again you could go to the
material and just increase the
subdivision for inflections a little bit
more in this case I use 40 and then
you're going to have a really nice
render also you have to increase the
setting right now I'm using low quality
setting so here is the final render you
see we have one bucket left to finish
but you can see the brush metal trash
reflections roasted by the anisotropic
effect and also the water shader so
basically this is a tutorial that we
