couple of things to do to kind of act
like you know what you're doing
we're going to go after kind of like a
shuffle thing shuffle thing gonna play
it real quick and then we're going to
show you what's going on all right thank
you so first of all we're going to talk
about what I'm doing so I'm just kind of
playing the rhythm and it's just a basic
blues shuffle so we don't know where
it's a 12 bar blues thing so I'm going
to go through a lightning-quick speed
right so this is going to be the 1 chord
e so this is going to be boozin e
playing power cord opening to a I'm kind
of muting it with my picking hand right
I'm putting my ring finger down to the
4th fret so it's still open you two open
four then five and back so 2 4 5 4 2
all right so just run men through that
for four bars and down a string this is
the a part the exact same thing which is
down and swing the back up then we're
going to go to the five focuses of B
which is 2a right
a then says the whole thing and then the
rest of it we're going to go to ian's
he's going to take it away

you're doing there okay well as we know
this is about faking of Lewis so here we
go

to show you how to enhance that with
some fakery but yet some knowledge so in
the blues we have our chords that we
need to know and if you're going to be
playing full chords you need to playing
East seventh at our sevens seven circa
wins seven chords are quintessential for
the blues so really quickly we got to
learn a lot of these sevens but don't
worry it's easy so we're going to learn
four of them right now okay first one is
the regular East seven which is second
for the a string and first fret of the g
string okay so that's very important now
a second legitimate voicing really is
putting your pinky on the third fret of
the D string as well so you have this
one or this these are two different e
sevens now if you want to find the next
one you take your pinkie right where it
is you put your first finger where your
pinkie was third fret of the B string
you're going to put your middle finger
on the fourth fret of G and your ring
finger on the fourth fret of the high E
this is an e7 just a different voicing
okay so we have one seven three seven
three seven probably our notice is a d7
yes but just please sharps Avenue flat
seven boom done then that's exactly it
and so now the last a seven which is one
of my favorites is your first mayor goes
to the D string the ninth fret D G B
ninth fret middle finger ring finger
depending on what's comfortable 10th for
the high E so we have for e seven chords
one two three and four and now Shawn and
I are actually just gonna play these
gonna play the easysharp and the key is
you can play any of these chords at any
time mix and match and it gives you
illusion of an actual blues melody hit

all right so the a part a 7s okay so
with a normal a seven
open a second for the D open G second
fret of the B and now another a seven
which is very close by your first finger
is barring B G B and E on sorry D G B on
the second fret and your middle fingers
third for it very very similar to the e
seven point up here so we have one a
seven to a 7 and then we're gonna take
that D seven shape we did and we move it
all the way up to the let's see the
ninth fret with that ring finger so it's
nine eight nine nine eight nine
that's an 87 so you have one two and
three
and now just so we can do it quickly the
b7 s actually I'm not going to show you
two of them they're easy remember if you
have an a7 here b7 two frets up and
here's your a7 I just did 99 and two
frets up so it's 11 10 11 so now the
best part about this mix and match have
fun to follow twelve bar blues and it's
gonna sound amazing the more you mix and
match the more you do it's never going
to sound the same any time but it's
gonna sound like you know what you're
doing and this is the key to the blues
and by the way people on stage do this
all the time all the time Paulito so now
Shawn my gonna play let's do a super
slow for a while just to kind of insert
some of those voicings before we do it
sure Peter okay yeah alright so this is
in fact we'll just start by going back
and forth between E and a great so we're
not even doing 12 bars gonna be like
maybe a few times it'd be a few times a
day yeah and then you can just jump into
it and call out what you're doing I'll
call the chords okay so I'm gonna call
it like okay voice is your winner great
or as it looks like one two three four E

here's my g7 shape here's the ninth fret
back to that decide hey here's one shape
and then the closed shape second fret
and I'm gonna use the e7 shape here with
just my pinky and often our thing you
can do is you can kind of pick these
cores a little bit house kind of like
arpeggiator yeah I watch try doing some
of those with with the e part okay here
we go so

however you want does we're mad one
because honestly this is a one chord and
to be honest the one is a 1 1 is a 1 is
a 1 as a 1 and the 4 is a 4 that's right
the five is a five so you can do this
all over the guitar neck for the entire
progression absolutely yes so we're
gonna do a full speed actually that yeah
right now yes or maybe like two times

it and just watch from me mixing and
matching and just do the same thing at
home load up an e bub blues backing

need to know how the fretboard connects
